Setting my eggs tonight (April 10) Any tips?

Well, I got advice to start lockdown early.

Just took the eggs out of the turner and put in my water to add humdity...
Am I forgetting anything?

I have my brooder all set up... using an old (SANITIZED) bird cage fit with food, water, and heat lamp. I don't think I will be putting them in wood shaving bedding immideately, since they are early hatchers... Will a nice soft towel be okay to use as temporary bedding???

Also, In case of false alarm, (which I doubt) could it hurt the eggs to go into lockdown two days early?

I went into lock down today, it's my start of day 18... I rearranged everyone else to make way for the new ones.

Oh YAY! I get to "BUMP" again!

I locked down my silkie last night, she took very well, I covered her eyes for the trip into the house (basement), I bought her entire nest so the new area smelled like her. she just sat there all night. then this a.m. I took her off the "nest" and showed her where the food was (it was sitting right next to her) she wanted out of the cage, (I'll have to take a picture) so I put her on the floor and

she relieved her self.

it smelled like dog poo. well at least I know shes comfy. BTW her new digs are sitting on top of my 3 week olds brooder (yes it's safe, my DH built it to set her up there), she's kind of comfussed when she hears those 3week olds cheeping, she thinks its her eggs. She will look at her eggs like ????? what the heck is going on in there?? it's so funny.. I put the smallest chick in with her and she bout ripped it a new rear end. I didn't let her touch it, but she had herself ALL fluffed up like she was going to. I quickly got it out of there.
