I wouldn't worry about it, most pips last forever, many last more than 24 hours... it probably won't be hatched when you get home and then you get to lose sleep because you will be afraid you will miss it

I hatch in cartons. I have 3 pips so far. All is quiet in there though. They are probably resting now. One of the silkie eggs pipped on the wrong end.

I quickly took that one out of the carton. ( Took me 5 seconds to take that one out the carton) The temp and humidity didn't drop I did it so fast.

Hopefully, that one makes it.

One of the blue eggs pipped, and it was the one I didn't expect too. I never saw it move, or heard a peep from it.

buugette, I would let them rest for 12 hours, put then in the bator in a carton (I cut the very bottoms off the carton) BIG end up, "turn" by placing a 2x4 under one end of the carton this will tip them ( that would make them 4" higher on one end) 3 x's a day, in the a.m. at about 2ish and then again about 9pm. just divide your day up. my temp in my homemade bator ranges 97-102. humidity day 1-18 is 30-40 and uped day 18 + to 64-75, make sure you calabrate ur hygrom. before you set eggs (search on BYC on how to do that) You can just lay them on the wire of the bator, thats fine, on one side of ur eggs put an X and the other side put an O, and turn eggs 3x's a day so that each night the same side is NOT up. I write me up a paper that has each days dates throughout incubation (like mine this time was dated 4/9-4/30) and after each date was a L or R I tilted mine in the carton night 4/9 theres a L 4/10 there a R and so on. Just so I knew that in the a.m. on the 10th the eggs had to be tipped to the Right at 2:30 I tilted to the Left then it 9pm I tilted to the Right.

clear as mud?

and I just wanted to tell everyone that I had a pip. u guys are so contagious!
