I agree! and I can't help but be soooo happy to set some of BareGretchens eggs... but let me tell you, my roo better get his but in gear and chase my Chantecler... 90% of her eggs are infertile! Or in the immortal words of some obnoxious millionaire... I'm going to tell him "You're fired!"

I love the idea of starting and improving lines. My new baby muttlies,I think, are going to be good layers (if they're pullets! But I already think ones a roo). Their mothers give an egg everyday and they lay consistantly XL's or better. I'd love to hear more about your super layer line Katy... that sounds awesome!!

3 out now and all but 2 have pipped! Im not giving up hope yet. The ones out are actually pecking at the pipped eggs. Is this them trying to help? Or is this just them envestigating the sarroundings? Either way all is good! I am just so relieved they are finally ready to come. I was so worried. I just knew I blew my first hatch. I knew I had killed them all. I was about ready to give all the others left away so they would have a better chance. I am SO relieved its ok! I am so excited now! I cant wait to get the others into lockdown. LOL I think it might have something to do with barometric pressure too. We just had a storm front blow out. and BANG!!! babies. They should have come during the storm. but wher late. I am jusso Happy! Yeah!!!!!!

lock your roo up with just the Chantecler for a few days, that should keep her fertile for a month.

really? a month? I thought it was good for about 2 weeks? hmmm... well unfortunately she's broody right now and when he goes near her she growls LOL. She hoarded my BR's eggs so I may let her try to hatch those, then keep going....
