Setting the week of August 22 (or so... ) Everyone join!! You know you want to!

I only had 3 out of 8 hatch and two have already died, so no more hatching for me. Way too expensive & shipped eggs are working out for me

I never said anything about Turkey, our broody hen, because I didn't think her eggs would hatch but they did.She has 3 chicks. She went broody and one day I had some pullet eggs in my hand and I just said sit on these, we can tell them from the other eggs. Turkey didn'tturn the eggs so we started turning them at 10 days. 3 showed improvements and all 3 hatched. We have winter comming on so I hope she cares for them well.

The chicks are tiny because they were pullet eggs. They were some of the first pullet eggs layed but we did have a rooster that was active. It is nice to have some of Showoff's chicks since he died.

My hatch is almost finished. Out of 100 eggs I have 50 chicks that hatched. I had 4 fully developed but died on day 18 or 19. I have another one left you can hear and feel the chick tapping but it has not pipped yet. On day 23.

Here's a couple photos of mine - hatched seven altogether - 6 Black Copper Marans and 1 Wheaten Ameraucana. I have more photos of all of them, but these came out the best.

I have a Havobater Gensis 1500 series with auto egg turned and a fan. Air cell size seemed to be fine but then again this was my first hatch so I could have mis-calculated. I also waited about 30 hours before setting my eggs after the arrived so I will be putting the next batch in sooner. I also am going to TRY and get eggs from somewhere near SC so they do not have to stay in the mail as long. Thank you so much for your answer! This makes me feel a little better about the situation!

Shipped eggs are notorious for few hatches .You did really well.Yes i never buy eggs from half way across the country did once and got one baby. Most of the next hatches all shipped from a few states away still had few hatches except the last got 10 of 11 and the last smothered when pipping. ...unusual other 4 hatched between 3 to 5 of 12 to 15 eggsl

That makes me feel better - I really really tried to be as educated and careful as possible with the 13 shipped eggs I had shipped from Maryland to California- everything temps humidity etc. seemed pretty spot on -and I still only hatched one. Hatching eggs is humbling, and hatching shipped eggs is bordering on masochistic ;)
