Setting up the bator and setting shipped eggs this week....anyone else wanna join?

I have never had a hatch like this , It is day 23, day 22 yielded 2 chicks, one in am, one in early pm. While I slept last night and definitely not expecting more to hatch, another one hatched making three. I was outside moving my first chicks that are 5 weeks old into a pen that has an outside run this morning, another egg has pipped. What in heck? What caused this crazy hatching behavior? Can anyone venture a guess. Some facts I do know. The eggs were chilled in Shipment. They were Shipped eggs. My hatcher was a degree off. Anymore ventured theories that could have added to this quandary? Should I help this last egg out and finish this hatch?

That's crazy! Must of taken an extra day to "warm up!" I wouldn't help the last one - let it do it on it's own, but I would be thrilled to have anything hatch after what they have been through! Makes me think I should let me incubator go a little longer after everyone hatches to see if there are any stragglers! It is always so hard to know when to "pull the plug"! Congrats on your new fuzzy butts!!

Wow, that is awesome..2 chcks and a 3rd one is pipped...did it zip yet? Definitely allow the chick to hatch on it's own unless you see that it is shrink wrapped....then you may want to help it out. I think it had to be the chilled eggs and the degree lower....it's a miracle!!!

Here's an updated pic of my hatchlings....4 weeks old now! They grow sooo fast! I have 13 left after sending 6 more home today.

Two of the boys...Lavender Orp and Black Australorp. They will be re-homed soon.

They are very nice looking chicks...

Congrats on the hatching crazyhen..three chicks and one more possible..and yes I have had that happen. Temp swings play a huge part in incubation.

I have two silkies out..and it looks like one more might be out when I get up. I need some sleep. I have three more pips and three nothing. I am hoping for more pips in the morning.

It is going to be another long day..I am going to keep busy today and hopefully when I get home I have the last three out. Or at least two out and the last one pipped.

Delisha, I just have to tell you...your post way back on page 21( I think) on fermented feed made me look into it! I finally took the time to implement it this week and absolutely love it! The girls eat it like crazy - and when I went to clean the coop this morning (I do it every morning) - no smell! Thank you so much for mentioning it!!! I don't know if I would have known otherwise!
