Awesome! That's a good number of eggs still cooking! Sounds like they are progrssing nicely! EGG-citing LOL!ok day 7 candling of my Catdance eggs....I had 5 clears and one blood ring that got tossed. I had 3 questionable ones - veining , but just looked funky. I kept them in until next go around. I have had them suprise me in the past! So, that leaves me with a total of 18 still cooking! Some colors, only 1 left of...so I am hoping those hatch...porcelains and partridge! My bator is holding steady at 99.5, humidity around 30-35%. Aircells are developing nicely.

I just put them in now..I think it looks like it was a good time to put them in. I probably could have held off till tomorrow. They still have quite a bit of visible veining.Vicki, are your eggs in lockdown now?
Gloria, how is your pipped egg doing? Did it zip?
I'm a newbie quail hatcher/raiser, but from all the research I've done, the Texas A&M's are a different type of meat from regular coturnix entirely. They were specifically bred to give a white fleshed carcass with white meat, as opposed to the darker meat of regular coturnix quail. Button quail are no good for meat raising b/c they are too tiny. They are great as pets tho. If you want big meaty quail (kind of an oxymoron), try going with the Texas A&M's or Jumbo Pharaoh (wild type). Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will chime in. Good luck!OH!!!!!! HOW!!!! YOU ALL!!! ARE!! tempting me; Hummm Quail; My brother says the larger quail are all white meat; The Texas white are larger and more meaty; What do you think out there?;Not much room either , that sounds even better. I love the sound of the native Bobwhites in the woods at night. It makes me very nostalgic That and the whippor-wills; Sigh, the feral cats have killed them all ,I think around here now. I love kittys but they really should be kept inside as pets.
