Setting up the bator and setting shipped eggs this week....anyone else wanna join?

ok day 7 candling of my Catdance eggs....I had 5 clears and one blood ring that got tossed. I had 3 questionable ones - veining , but just looked funky. I kept them in until next go around. I have had them suprise me in the past! So, that leaves me with a total of 18 still cooking! Some colors, only 1 left of...so I am hoping those hatch...porcelains and partridge! My bator is holding steady at 99.5, humidity around 30-35%. Aircells are developing nicely.

Awesome! That's a good number of eggs still cooking! Sounds like they are progrssing nicely! EGG-citing LOL!

Well 2 pips today one has a decent size hole but then no more progress for hours now. It seems like its trying just not getting anywhere. Hopefully it rests up and zips away before long. The other hasn't been pipped long.

Fantastic...!!!

I don't own an incubator, but my OEGB mix is going broody on me again. She keeps stealing the other hens' eggs and I want buff Orpingtons, so I'm picking up 6 eggs tomorrow for her to sit on. She hatched 4 out of 4 last time. I hope she does as well this time.

My hen did not want to sit, so the BO eggs turned into eating eggs. 4 hour trip for eating eggs.

I borrowed an incubator from a neighbor and put 15 mixed breed eggs in it. Got 13 chicks last weekend. Now I have 12 Welsummer and 6 Mille Fleur D'uccle eggs in there due to hatch on the 26th. I also put 6 D'uccle eggs under the hen pictured and moved her to a crate in the garage. She is sitting like a champ. Her eggs are due on the 24th.

Poor chicky hasn't progressed any more. It's still breathing but I think it's getting weaker. Don't want to have to help but may have to.

OH!!!!!! HOW!!!! YOU ALL!!! ARE!! tempting me; Hummm Quail; My brother says the larger quail are all white meat; The Texas white are larger and more meaty; What do you think out there?;Not much room either , that sounds even better. I love the sound of the native Bobwhites in the woods at night. It makes me very nostalgic That and the whippor-wills; Sigh, the feral cats have killed them all ,I think around here now. I love kittys but they really should be kept inside as pets.
I'm a newbie quail hatcher/raiser, but from all the research I've done, the Texas A&M's are a different type of meat from regular coturnix entirely. They were specifically bred to give a white fleshed carcass with white meat, as opposed to the darker meat of regular coturnix quail. Button quail are no good for meat raising b/c they are too tiny. They are great as pets tho. If you want big meaty quail (kind of an oxymoron), try going with the Texas A&M's or Jumbo Pharaoh (wild type). Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will chime in. Good luck!
