..I will take pictures today or tomorrow..they just peek out it is so cold. I have a different area all set up for them to move them too later tonight.

well they are not cooperating..I was going to move them today but I changed my mind..they are so quick. I had three of them out in front and as I pressed the button..poof most gone..you can barely see the butt of one black one as it is dashing under. I did catch one yellow one.

Well, this is it huh! The big week! I picked up another heat lamp bulb today as my last batch still needs a heat lamp, got home, promptly dropped it pulling it out of the box, and boom! Those things literally explode! Wow,....so off to pick up another one tomorrow! Getting brooder ready, turning the eggs for only 2 more days...then lockdown! Getting really excited!

At least it wasn't hanging over any babies when it kerblooied! I'm three days behind you. Still need to get my brooder ready. Just have to assemble it. Do you use the reflector type of holder for your heat lamp? All i have is a plain holder that's not as wide as the ones I've seen at tTSC. Any opinions?

Quote: You can attach it to thick sheet metal and make a safer and more ambient heat source, reduce the size of your light bulb and save some $ on electricity.

No kidding! I do use a reflector holder - and it works well. I like delisha's idea - would love a picture! This light has worked forever for me - off and on for 4 years, so I got my moneys worth! It is still working .... I just have 3 week old babies that are not quite all feathered out yet, and need heat at night. So, I need another one for the new ones coming! All 11 eggs were wiggling inside today, and aircells looked great...so all 11 will go into lockdown! That is out of 17 eggs total. I am thrilled with that for my first time with shipped eggs!

I went to bed last night the hatcher was fine. I had pips. the humidity was 67%. fine right? I woke up this morning the humidity was 44% the piped eggs were in trouble. I do not usually help but the chicks were crying trying to get out of their drying membranes. So I helped out 4 of them. They had absorbed the yolk so they were ready, whew! that was a close call. Unfortunately two were already dead. They died due to my lack of attention.

I have never had that problem before but will watch for it in the future for sure. I still have two eggs that are just now piping. I will try to get back later with some pic.
