I'm so sorry for your loss. You did the right thing. That poor baby would have passed in a huddle of crazy, a stressful environment, where no one cared about her. You tried, and worked so hard to save her. You made that difference. I'm so sorry she didn't make it.

The worst one is having trouble staying upright, she’s really bad off. I’ve tucked her in ang she’s finally calming down a bit. Worried she’ll be hurt if I put her under the lamp. What’s best for her???

Have you tried feeding coconut oil to the remaining chicks? I hear it works wonders.

It helps get any possible impaction/constipation moving again.

@MottsHomestead @Weeg Thank you. We loved her so much and even named her (Gracie), she will be so missed. The girls are taking it pretty well, I had them all reading up on the issues that could arise. My 9 year old particularly finds researching interesting and was very concerned with how swollen her belly was. It’s been a good learning experience on caring for your dependent critters

There are a few with continuing pasty bums that luckily haven’t blocked the vent again. Nutridrench all around and I’ll try the coconut oil orally. Good idea! It’s been put on bums and it makes sense to grease up the inside too

Mostly silkies! Then two which are likely barred OEGB. They’re such tiny cotton balls and I could watch them play for hours
