Sexing Monals

Hi

I know the cock monal developes black markings around the throat area after a while.
Is there any other way to sex them before that.
Anyone any ides on what sex ones are in photos attached.

If you pull a feather from under the chin,it will either grow back black for a male or white or brown for a hen.Your pics really don't give a good pic of under their chin where the sexing is shown.One pic does show a male to the far right,but the others are not visable.

The first one.Do you have mosquitoes in Ireland?Mosquitoes can give impeyans west nile.If you do have them,I would build a pen made of screen so the mosquitoes can't get in.I lost about 8 birds before someone told me this.What other breeds do you raise?

No we dont have mosquitoes here.
Blue eared, Reeves, Temmnicks Tragopan,Koklass, Reds, Yellows, Lady,Elliots,Silvers, had a few others but have moved them on to make way for my other species of birds.

for the price of a monal, you can get them DNA tested for $20 each, not sure you have a testing center in ireland but there's a few in the usa that do it

Yeah i often used it for testing birds that look the same all the time Turacos, Kookaburras, and my Spreo starlings.
Its more than $20 per feather dna test here and i have 8 monal chicks so would be a bit dear.

8 chicks good job.I only got 5.My grey peacock hen has laid 2 more eggs,now I'm hoping she will set again.

The grey's are lovely.
At least you have the sunshine there, rain everyday here.
Have uploaded 2 more pics what do you think any clues on what they could be.
