Sexing

Does the Dominique have another name? Something to do with Plymouth? Can't find those for sale sadly. Maybe I'll need to wait until spring
That would be barred Rock.. or anything barred/cuckoo doesn't matter the breed. female to solid male (non white) for sex links..

Check out this.. Other genes that are sex linked besides barring are chocolate, silver, maybe even dark legs.. off the top of my head...

I wonder if crossing CCL to Bielefelder.. will give autosexing (not sex linked) straight combed green or uhm .. "moss" egger.. Mossbar! Move over Silverrud's blue Isbar. :pop

Barred birds like barred rocks can be sexed at birth according the the quality of the spots on the backs of their heads. But you need to make sure you buy stock that is proven for this quality.
Hatch! :D

That would be a problem XD
Really.. it's a problem for us all.. IF you ship outside YOUR own state without an NPIP certification.. according to the law... no matter you're at in the lower 48.. Please.. put us and our freedom to keep back yard chickens above your desire to share your stock and ship only if you can do so legally. :fl

Gorgeous eggs.. whoever posted them! :love

Locked up abroad.. you guys are hilarious.
I want some Dong Toa!

I will have to look into that! I didn't know you had to be certified so thanks for bringing that to my attention!

Yes, that should work.
They would breed true for the autosexing feather color, but the egg colors would be all kinds of mixes in future generations (white, brown, blue, green). That could actually be quite fun, and make it easy to keep track of how many eggs are laid by which hens!
