Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Ex Batts good morning one and all!

I haven't been able to get out to my chicken coop due to the pain I'm having in my lower back and both legs.

My husband has been going out to take care of the chickens and collect eggs.

When I go to the coop I always count my chickens to make sure they are all there.

When he went out to care for the chickens Thursday he found one of my RIR's dead.

The RIR is not the one I thought would die.

Don't know what happened and it looked like the other chickens had been eating on her.

Temperature is in the 60s.

Have a great day!
That must be horrible not feeling able to go and chat to the chickens. It reads like you had concerns about the health of a different chicken.:hugs

@BDutch You were right. The Chicken Guard is the most frustrating piece of equipment to set up. Add to this that the instruction manual is very poor and to top it off. the cut out the small screws that hold the two halves of the unit together are too deep for a bit in a multibit driver.:he
No I didn't get it working to the point where I had any confidence in it. Try again tomorrow.:barnie

A bit grey but warm enough.
There were people at the allotments so the chickens didn't get much more than hour on the allotments after the people had left.

Yes, the RIR that I sent you pictures of with spurs as they were picking on her not letting her eat or partake of any treats.

She has finally started eating out of the feeders with the rest of the flock.

About the ChickenGuard: True, it aint easy to install with the poor instructions. Took me a while too.

Also had problems with the door once after a period with heavy rain. I couldn’t make it work initially/properly after the thread dried. Contacted the supplier . He was very helpful. I needed to assemble it on the spot (attached to the wall) and with the door attached to make it work properly again.
