Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

would it?
In any case, other things against the creeper (short-legged) gene are that it's dominant, and lethal when homozygous.
Ok now that is really good to know. So I shouldn't hatch any eggs from Patucha if she ends up mating with Tobias.

She is one of Lucio's favorites, so that is unlikely, but you never know

Lovely day all in all. A bit of sun. Not too hot and it stayed dry.
I got my chicken shit and compost fetilizer dug in where the potatoes and onions grew. Did a fair amount of reading in between hurling rocks at rats and moving food around.
I'm going to have to sort the rat problem out. There are three groups. The groups whose nests I destroyed have moved further down the fence line and the group from under the greenhouse of one of the houses that backs on to the allotments seems to have grown. This can't go on. I'll try a simple bucket trap first. There is a suitable tub already in position. I'll make something like Molpet posted for the rats from under the greenhouse.
The chickens are pissed off with the rats; Fret in particular who has to keep moving the chicks. I need to get one female rat in particular. I think she'll be hard to catch.
