Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

I'm still sick but better than I was. It's going to take some time to recover as much as I'm going to. Unfortunately the saying "whatever doesn't kill you just makes you stronger" isn't born out in reality.

As for Henry, Fret, Carbon, Dig and Mow.
I believe they are getting fed. C is doing it.
The arrangement for cleaning and feeding that was in place all went to shite due to unbelievable bits of drama. The eldest has been able to visit and tells me everyone is alive. Unfortunatley her and her husband are sick as are other people who may have been able to step up.

I've been told a few unpleasant facts about my current state of health and have been warned that I need to take time to make a decent recovery. I may get to the allotments later this week but I'm not in a fit state to do every day. I shall be talking to C at some point who despite not meeting an acceptable standard of care is the only one who is prepared to at least do something rather than flame other group members on What'sCrap.
Thank you for the update. It sounds like you had a rough time. I hope that you will now be as rigorous taking care of your own health than that of the chickens ! And that you will indeed start to feel better and see your way out of this. Health wishes for your daughter and her husband as well.

I think what's going on in the group is revealing - people show a good bit of who they are, based on what they do when really needed. It's a balance - C. turns out not to be 100% unreliable while others are being disappointing.

Beautifully spoken ManueB. Can I subscribe to these wishes and thoughts? 😁

@Shadrach I hope you mend as far and as fast as is possible in the circumstances.
Unsurprisingly the people involved have not stepped into the breach.
Hopefully you can come up with a long term plan for Henry and his family.

Tax: Babs, a very endearing chicken

Keeping you in my prayers.
Take care of yourself.

I am glad C is stepping up, at least to do the essentials. It is a shame that all the others that complained about C, haven't risen to the occasion. :-(

I am glad that you are seeing some improvement. Keep resting and take as much time to recover as you need, don't rush it.

That is great news! Sending positive vibes that he has a quick recovery! I am assuming that they started him on some type of anticoagulant therapy? (I used to do the coumadin checks, but I don't think they use that as much anymore as they have so many new modern wonder drugs.)

Yes, he is back on Coumadin, his depression medication is affected by the anticoagulants.

The swelling is tremendously reduced.
