Agreed on the first half. Canines also include wolves, coyotes, jackals, foxes, and other members of the canidae family

It seems that ghastly mash up of religious fundamentalism. paganism and commercial enterprise called Christmas is upon us once again. I know this because I'm getting bits of coloured cardboard through my post box and the supermarkets have repackaged the same shite they've been selling all year in something that looks festive and special and put the price up.

As happens most years it's the time when people send me stuff I've already said I didn't want, or need and now expect to be thanked for it.
I'll be spending Christmas day with my eldest and a few friends.
I thought this was an interesting take on the Christmas Tree.

Love the artists' trees.

I'd skip the tree altogether, but hubby likes it, so we have one. One of those compromises that keeps a marriage humming along smoothly.

Yeah I don't do Christmas.
It's a commercial holiday and no one needs anything I can afford.... and I need to get rid of stuff not get more.
The date was picked to help convert pagens to become Christians from what I can find. I still wish people Merry Christmas unless they are a different faith and then I wish a happy xxxxx .

Learning a few new words here.

We do no more than a small gathering this year. Enjoy being together with our children and their loved ones. No presents, just a tea, some drinks and bites. I did put up a small Xmass tree for decoration.

I didn't quite manage the mile walk today. My five mile target is looking a long way away.
It's been almost three weeks now. Nothing, not heart attack, broken bones, covid or anything I can recall in adult life has shut me down for this long.
But, I'm fit enough to get to and back from the allotments and that is what I'm going to be doing this afternoon; 01:07 here. My main gripe is the 6 kilo back pack on the outward trip. That's a lot of extra weight for someone in my current state of health.
Some of my family are not impressed with this decision. Comments like "if you drop dead don't say I didn't warn you." Pointing out the impossiblity of the exchange probably wasn't the right thing to say at the time. Stubborn, well I've heard that a lot from those who care and those that don't.
My eldest said, "Take your phone and if you can't hack it give me a ring and I'll come and get you."
