Ditto. I don't spend all I get of a government allowance each fortnight but my car needs quite a bit of work done so I need to save for that. My actual needs each week are minimal.I have a state pension. When I started work the deal the state made was work for 30 years and we will provide for you in your senior years by deducting and investing an amount of money taken from your wages under the name of National Insurance.
I did my 30 years and some.
The rent on my flat is paid by the state. It's a bit of an accident of age. Even the current government can't make having pensioners sleeping on the street a drink and drugs problem.
I spent the ten years of my life before returning to the UK as what many would describe as poor. Many spend what I had to live on for a week on coffee and a bun at tea break over a week.
I don't spend all the pension I get each month so I have enough.
It's that last word in the sentence above that people have trouble with.
If you Google repurpose feed bags you can see how easy the steps are. I think if you are a patient person and a good hand sewer you would giggle how easy it is.I wonder how hard it would be without a machine
You sound fabulously wealthy as I see it. The items we collect weigh heavy. The happiest times in my life were when I had next to nothing and appreciated everything. I work towards ridding my ego of its fat.I have a state pension. I worked for a state college and have a pension. I don't spend it all . State is trying to figure out how to reduce the pensions... because they didn't invest what I paid in or match it like they were supposed to.
People think I'm broke because I don't have cable TV, eat out, new clothes ... but I have no debt.
Where will you live? Down sizing? Tiny home and go off grid?!!We are trying to get to that zero debt point. Plan to list our home very soon. That will go a long way towards getting us financially stable for the rest of our lives.
@Shad your lamps are terrific. Good job.I wasn't expecting much I admit. I've tried a pop up, right on, sustainable, renewable, natural, environmental market before. Lots of good intentions but not a lot else going for them. I counted 35 visitors between 9.30am and 5pm. I will have missed a few because I went and did a bit of shopping with my youngest.
This is Bristol, not some small country town. The venue was in a high traffic area for independant shops. There is something very wrong with a venue that can't market itself well enough to only attract such a small number of people.
