Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

My solution to that was to offer $1 off when bringing me a carton and it works great! I sell my eggs for the same as Costco and that is a good deal. I just want it to be my town neighbors etc who get the deal.
It does not solve the leakage of give aways though and that breaks my heart a little. Bottom line is people should feel horrified tossing out their plastic like it is bathwater. That part is what I have the biggest problem with.
I did purchase a fancy stamp and sticker and am hoping it helps...View attachment 3238100

And with the selling of chicks I am feeling super inspired today. Thinking about a website... lol. Obviously I forgot to take my meds....

The bags look wonderful!

I want to make some rectangular bags that fold up.

I'm looking for the hard card board to make them with.

If anyone knows where I can buy the card board please let me know?

It's Sunday and my day off.
Some know I'm a dubstep and modern dance fan.
This was the video that got Non Stop the attention.

And one more later video.
Thank you for sharing these. It is not something I would have come across if it weren't for you posting them now and then and I love them!
I particularly loved the first of these two - probably like that one the best of all the ones I have seen.

I would not want to be forced to be a politician.... I was convinced to be a union steward, which was bad enough.
That's the point 😂 nobody who is responsible for leading a country should actually want to do it. Not the way our current systems are set up anyway. It's not a real proposition, just something my husband and I discuss when we bemoan the state of everything. We will in reality just keep doing what we can in our own ways to support our own lives and support our community.

No forced jobs except the actual politicians, to clarify. Not the entire government/public service, just replacing the show boating morons we 'elect' to 'lead the country'.

It's an idea that can't actually work, but it would be nice to think we could all work for the public good again, in our own ways.
Well, if we get the big money out and transparency in... hopefully the people could vote with a clear eyed and resounding voice. Also, we REALLY need to educate people to think, critically. Some of the things I hear are just not based in reality, it is sad but I think we know who to largely thank for that. The dumbing down is embarrassing but serving someone's purpose.

My high-tech harvesting tools, an old tennis racquet for a sieve, an old kids shovel, a rake, and a bucket!

It's my first year using chicken-run compost, I'm using it to make seed raising mix and potting-on mix. I've never seen roots on my seedlings like I'm getting right now. Astonishing.

My husband and I say political leadership should be like jury service or conscription, very competent people should be nominated and then they have to do the job for a year or so, for the public good. But the whole population first has to agree on the direction we want to go, so these 'forced volunteer' leaders can guide us there. So good luck with any of that!

The ancient Athenians tried this - the entire government version. It did actually work, at the scale of the city state where everyone could walk to work as and when required. Of course one might find fault with some of the decisions they made, and the philosophers really went to town on it, but it did function, at least as well as our so-called democracies, and ordinary people had a vastly better idea of the consequences of their votes, and sense of responsibility for their decisions.

This is such a great thread. ♡ always interesting!
I think it is the love of the look of success. At least that is my guess observing at least one family member and I feel it is promoted in the US. IMO it is a disease like addiction, different drug, same hole that they are trying to fill. I don't really have much good to say about it, so should probably leave it there... 🤐 for now lol

I really admire the non plastic choice other countries are making. I feel like everything in the US is wrapped in one use plastic. We can't recycle it. Drives me crazy (er) and is why I am on the anti plastic bandwagon. Once again, putting corporate greed over commonsense. I don't buy cartons. I am trying to keep the plastic out of the landfill by reusing what we already have floating around from store eggs. Even organic and free range eggs are in plastic that can be reused but not recycled. I do get a few people who save cartons for me but as a whole I really don't think most people here are conditioned (can't be bothered) to separate and reuse.
I'm surprised recycling is not normalised. Where I live, recycling plastics, paper products and metals like tin cans has been in place for more than 40 years through the rubbish collection. Today, there are three wheelie bins for each house in my council area (which is rather large). A big green one for green waste which I assume goes to a big compost producer. A small blue one for landfill. A big yellow one for all the recyclables. The blue one is emptied every week, the yellow and green alternate.
