It worked. Today I had a stampede. And they couldn't figure out how to get out.

@Shadrach or other free rangers, did you ever notice hens using the ‘egg-song’ or escort-song for other purposes than to get escorted to the rest of the flock/tribe? Like calling a rooster or the landlord because they need his help to lay an egg in a safe spot.

I asked the same question in my natural breeding and hatching thread. But because your answer might be interesting for a larger group than my followers I ask it here too.

To create a wannabee pop door you probably need to put the screen higher up. Or.. Roll up or cut of 4-6” of one piece for an opening. Try using a few elastic bands if you dont want to cut the screen.

Can't say I have. What I see/hear a lot of is the reverse, so to speak: cockerels cooing to try to persuade hens to lay in borders, flower pots, bin bags and assorted other more or less unsuitable places :th Fortunately most of the females have more sense than to follow these suggestions :p

The last sentence doesn’t solemnly apply to chickens. Its way more universal imho. 🤣

Shadrach I know you just said it was against the rule to mention politics but this article on republican activists on a french media covering the coronation made me think of you.
Hope no one founds it offensive (the terrible Google translation is an offense in itself!).

Yes. Chipie does this to call Théo, but she is the only one of my chicken who does. Maybe because she is in the situation of being permanently badly bullied by the rest of the flock.

She and some of the other hens also have a noise to call the rooster for him to come right now, but it's a completely different sound.

United Kingdom tax : Léa, day -1 she committed to sitting.

Both the coronation + the royalty fans as well as the anti-coronation demonstration was on our national TV.
The UK-reporter from London obvious was a fan of the Royals, but the journalist in the studio in NL had a lot of questions she had to answer about things that didn’t fit into the perfect picture. They had video too to explain things. Like Megans absence and anti-demonstrators getting arrested.

With a clean towel. The other cloth smelled horrible.

I have noticed ours do it when they are going in to lay an egg. They never stop, even if I help them.
I noticed that when they do it after laying an egg, if I pick them up, cuddle them, and set them back down they stop.
