We had an attempted Hawk attack today, the boys got the girls under cover, screamed at the hawk and between them and the bird netting, the hawk left empty clawed. I heard the hawk and went running out in time to see it swoop towards the bird netting and change his mind, really quickly and brave Spud was right up front shouting at the would be predator while the other boys were herding the girls to safety. I adore my boys!

We managed to avoid the rain. It's tipping down again now. Two and a half hours and it was cold for me at 4C.
It looks like Mow has inherited her father's scaly leg mite issues. What makes matters worse is she's got feathered feet. The more I see of SLM the more I think it's a genetic problem and the less I believe it spreads easily from bird to bird. Have to treat her before it works it's way up her legs. It's just the scales on her feet at the moment. Mow was completely calm when I picked her up to have a good look at her legs. She just sat on my palm while I inspected.
Henry has some peck marks on the back of his neck just below his comb. I assume Dig jumped on his back while Henry was busy with one of the hens and got a few pecks in.

The rosemary bush.

I've got a thyme plant to go in and some dill, land cress and parsley.

The Sweary Boys looking pissed off because they can't raid the chicken feed.

Made a bird feeder. Just need to add a few dabs of black paint to disguise the nail heads on the last shingle.

I did! They got extra fish hand fed, and extra comb massages when they got tucked in.

Looks good. Chipmunks love those.

I have a similar plastic one with clear sides and a flip top. They would climb inside and fill their cheeks, so cute.... until I found about 50lbs of sunflower seeds rotting when I dug a hole and ran into their hoard.
