Everybody got out for an hour and a bit before the rain got serious,

There is a new water feature here; this sprang up in the verge of the lane opposite our drive a couple of weeks ago

The old cottages on the slope of the hill here were built on the spring line, since they predate piped water supplies, but in nearly 30 years we've lived here, there has not been a spring there. I take it all the rain last year and this has now fully refilled the aquifer!

Nice. We have a spring about 10 meters behind our garden. From there it developes into a little stream. Only one summer when it was dry and warm for a very long time the spring stopped. The municipality clears it every 5 years to prevent it becomes too natural.
It attracts all kind of animals. Never freezes. It felt like a free bonus when we bought the property next to it. We

Tax. The chick with the 2 mamas moved to the second run yesterday, where they have sufficient enclosed space.

Love it
When I was a kid there were two spring fed ponds on top of the hill. Weird I know. Also a creek that had a spring used as a refrigerator by my great grandparents and grandparents until electricity.

Springs were messed up when a highway went through the creek and between the ponds. 40 ft well went dry too.
Creek has been straightened and faster flow has gouged out the sides and bottom. Trees fallen from lack of dirt. Flooding has raised the land around it and water can't get to the creek. So my bottom land is swampy part of the year. Had green herons and kingfisher for a couple weeks. Too expensive to get someone in every couple years to repair the culvert that washes out.
