One of my Penedesencas makes a lot of work at shut up. She is always last in, and if she is even near the pop door - inside the coop as well as outside it - when I approach, whoosh - she's run off. There have been times when she's run out 3 times! Drives me nutsThe rescue chick is just a mess at roost time and I had to stop it coming back out once it had gone in.

In every other way she's a great hen; lays good strong dark brown eggs (darker than her sisters, so better genes from a SOP perspective), right through last year and this - she hasn't gone broody (both her sisters have); very popular with the boys and her plumage holds up well to all their attention; she gets on fine with all the girls too; fast moulter; in fact, no trouble to anyone but me at closing time. So hopefully it's just a quirk of that chick, and hopefully it won't find itself shut out by the auto door one night.
