She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Okay so 40%!!!!!???? Dang that seems high for any chick really. I never thought that high for silkies.
I sent you a pm. My last batch of shipped silkie eggs and my last 5 batches of my own eggs were incubated at 45-55% humidity. I know those numbers seem extremely high, but for me, my aircells have grown spot on and my hatch rates have been excellent.

Are you serious??? That is just beyond wrong!! :hugs
My temperature issue is fixed but it cost me three eggs. Only three out of six hatched. Here is a pic of one of the ones that died. It never internal piped I later did it for it bit it was dead,.just

like the other two.
So sorry. But I wanted to say that is an awesome pic.
You can, but I find the float test rather useless. If a chick is really active, yeah the float test is going to show that, but so would candling and if it's barely moving it's hard to tell if it's the chick or a bump of the table or something else.
You and Ravyn had similar comments on the float test. Just wanted to add my two cents...I think the float test is good for newbies. During my first couple hatches I was not very experienced with candling, especially past "lockdown". And not familiar with seeing draw down, and movement along the membrane. So I was able to find a live egg, past due by doing the test. But I agree now. I have not done float testing since my second hatch. But I think it can't really hurt a new hatcher to try it, along with lots of practice at candling! :)
Just candled my six royal palm eggs, day 8. All of them are fertile, great veins. Happy dance. @lazy gardener looking good for you.
That is such fantastic news!
Amy, here are a few of Armand's newest babies
I had to quote these pics because they are just so adorable!! I absolutely love them!!
tomorrow hits lockdown... day 18... OMG.. already. I am freaking scared to death. lost another Sultan I think. I am glad I didn't have really heavy duty expensive rare eggs this time. You all were SO right. I have a HUGE momma that looks good to hatch. I can not imagine the chick that is going to come out of this thing. GOT to be Godzilla. I am not really happy with the air cells I don't think. Looked a them last night, and they really don't look much different than day 14. I am SO freaking out about the hatch. Any little hints or tidbits for the 'newby' hatcher on my first lockdown and hatch?????? (besides calm down???? lol) on a second note, my second batch of eggs should be here in about a week and a half. THESE are very important eggs. I need to figure out what I did wrong and FIX it. suggestions are welcomed you all.
You can run dry for an extra 24 hours if air cells have not grown much since day 14. I've had good luck doing this!

Hello to all my chicken friends! How is everyone doing? I hope everyone's hatches have been good with lots of healthy chicken chicks, ducklings, quails, and turkey poults! I've had 3 very sick kids, very little sleep and of course lots of chickens, chicks and eggs to tend to. I've got eggs just starting to pip, 1 week old chicks with their broody mama, 2 week old paint silkies, and 5 week old silkies and D'Uccles growing out. Lots of action around here and not enough time In the day! I've missed everyone and again, hope everyone is having a great start to spring!
