Thanks! I told myself I wasn't going to do eggtopsies this time, but I did open the air cells. All shrinkwrapped. Felt them for life, but didn't open them any further. Wanted to check out Blobby, but Yorkshire said you can't tell frizzle for a few days, so there wasn't much point. I just didn't want to know this time. Can't really explain it....
I knew they lost too much weight, and 2 still had clear fluid in the bottom of the egg at day 18. I hate to blame the egg layer, but I really think I just got a bad batch of eggs....

Just going to chalk this up as a bad one and move on....

Well, my hatch is over. 6/11... I'm not happy about that, but I'm glad for the 6 that I did get. And for the fact that it will push me to get a better incubator (or get DH to build me one -- I actually have him thinking about it!) They all seem to be thriving... eating and drinking well, getting along with each other, and of course pooping! Except for one little splay leg baby... Ugh. Its one of the cochin, and with the feathered legs, I decided to try the bread-tie idea first. 24 hours, it didn't help. Another 12 or so hours, still no help. So tonight we put the band aid on. Poor baby has learned to hop on her good leg! She is not trying to use the other leg very much. I don't know what else to do. I read many threads, watched many videos, etc. I guess I just have to hope the band aid is successful. Anyone else with another idea, please throw it out to me! And is it too late? She's about 2-1/2 days old as of now. Here she is... cute as a button huh? Here are a few pics of the polish. Buff??

Hi guys just checked emails and read about Colson's little Ted it's was so sad .after all he went through with him . not even going to try to read tonight .I picked up enough from email to reply to Amy. I tried rice and popcorn and a silica dry pack from pool chemical bucket . rice and popcorn did nothing .The silica pack lowered the humidity about 2% In about thirty min. but It was old and I had saved it from last year to try it this year. It worked a little. best bet is to get the Incubator close to a dehumidifier or AC unit. depending on the incubator and the size of the vents Its hard to say how close you would need to be to either one. humidity here has been running from 50% to 68% on average I locked down 18 last night the sponges and pans are in but no water yet. They were in the bator when I had the heat spike .15 look fine but that doesn't mean they are. I'll know tomorrow or Saturday . If I get live chicks you get pictures

So all the duck eggs still look alive and well. The oldest dues out to hatch tomorrow is thumping his shell, I feel it when I candle lol. The second dues to hatch is now in it's "lockdown" phase as well. Have high hope for them all

Sorry to hear that WV. :-( Didn't you have some temp problems early on?

Temp problems came late. I believe the controller is going out on my unit. Had to keep a small heat lamp above the bator to maintain temp. I think low humidity was too low for the bantams. The polish did fine.

I've been researching other problems on the one that I thought had splay leg. I now think its a slipped tendon from the way its acting, but I cant feel it like they say I should be able to. Anybody have any experience with it?

The key to using the band aid is to make sure it's not to tight or to lose. It has to be just right. I had to do it twice but once I had it on just right he was walking immediately. I left it on for five days and he's all better. That's my experience. I really hope it works for you too!!

Five days? I thought it should fix within a couple days. Well I'll give it some more time. I'm still researching trying to decide if mine is splay leg or slipped tendon, but I left the bandaid on her. Luckily, she is hopping around on the good leg very well, and eating and drinking. And the others aren't picking on her. So maybe she will be ok.
