She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

This new batch of chicks is really giving me a lot of experience, to say it nicely. I woke up to two pasty butts and a bloody navel. I soaked the pasty butts. The chick that had it the most got back in the brooder and took a massive, you know what. I bet he sure felt better! I put a little bacitracin on the bloody navel. It looks like a little something is sticking out of the navel. Is that anything to be concerned about? Also, I was wondering if anyone knows what color this silkie chick might be. It has some grey but also some warmer colors. His head & face has broken color. I'm thinking maybe splash, but I really don't know.

Seems to be holding now. I've got a camera monitoring it, so I'll check it while I'm gone today and hope for the best. Thanks!

I might have missed if you said what happened with the rest of yours?

I float tested them all and saw no movement in the water. Then I candled 1, no movement, candled the next and the chick was moving around in the shell!!! No internal pip, though. I put it back right away & shut the incubator. But I really think it will die. Any suggestions?

Wow! That just goes to show the water/wiggle test doesn't always mean its dead. It may give up, but I'd leave it in there. Maybe it was just a slow developer.

Not sure about your beautiful little silkie but it sure is darling!! And I can imagine the relief that the other little guy felt!

Now I'm thinking I need to replace the battery in my Spot Check thermometer. Got the temp seeming to hold steady, so I turned off the heat lamp, hoping it would hold on its own, but NO. I'm ok with the temp dropping a little, but I definitely don't want to cook them too high, so the heat lamp makes me nervous about that. I don't know what I'm going to do.
seems to be a murphy week for you and me and a couple of the others . In my rush to get work on Tuesday I forgot to turn on the cooling fans for my Incubators came home that night to very high heat 106. killed most of my eggs some survived maybe 5 not sure . One hatched so far this morning . working at home today but I've broke enough stuff on the job this week I could have bought a cabinet incubator .doing honey dos this morning .I've got three hours of plan changes to do some time today the builder wants to flip three houses front to back but hey man Its no big deal for you. I had already spent hours scaling pier supports that got left off the plan. and three hours to wield a bobcat bucket I broke . so I'm good but a little worried about your hatch. If your element is heating then your controller is going out .you are going to need a new board . I'll say a little payer too .you should be ok just pull a Amy out of your hat .

I swore I heard peeping in my incubator. I went over to see and I have a pip! I marked it #1 because it had filled up the fastest and seemed to be ahead of the others developmentally, and it's #1 alright!

He's not peeping now though. I hope he's just resting. How do you guys do this?! I'm going to go INSANE sitting by and watching all weekend.

Wow yes we are having it rough. Sorry to hear you lost some chicks. My honey is doing some honey do things for me now too, inside because of some horrible thunderstorms. I have faith that my babies will hatch. Might be a day later now. So I'll just stick with the Natalie in my hat (that's me lol)

Cool!! I think my #8 egg will be first. It is insane lunacy huh? But so addicting you want to do it over and over and over lol! Good luck!

Here's a screen shot from my remote camera looking in on my eggs. Its not great but I can tell that the temp and humidity are holding while I'm away. The hygrometer is 6% low, so its holding at 69%.
