lol yep!Ok, I have all kinds of chicken stories from the weekend.
I've had chickens for 7 years, and have never lost one to a snake until Saturday. It was a 7 week old pullet, and at first I couldn't figure out what had happened. She was on the coop floor Saturday morning, and it looked like something had grabbed her from the neck up, but there were no feathers flung about, just wet and sticky from the shoulders up, and dry and fluffy from the shoulders down. That's too much to take in on a Saturday morning, and I was confused at first, and then I went "Ohhhhhhhh"... Obviously a snake had tried to eat her, got to the part that was too big to swallow, and regurgitated. I searched online for snake eating chicken, and after seeing pictures my suspicions were confirmed. I've put Snake Away around the coop and am in the process of filling any gaps, holes, or cracks. I figure it will either be back to try and find a smaller one, or wait until it's big enough to eat a pullet. There were 3 cockerels in that coop, too. If it was going to kill one, why not kill one of them?![]()

Has anyone else noticed that when you search anything related to chickens, 95% of the hits are BYC threads?
Finally. I've been wanting to find out how those 3 are doing. Good to see there behaving like living chicks nowThe 3 Musketeers at 2 weeks 2 days old.![]()
I didn't see these guys drink until they were 4 days old, or eat till they were 6 days old...BCM-Red sexlink crosses. Styro (35 eggs) is on Day 14, Brinsea (48 eggs) on Day 5...and dang, I got an ear ache!
OMG!!!! That last picture needs to be your avatar!!!! LoL!!! I love it!Just took a few new pics of the babies, thought I'd share. I have a pug dog, so luckily I love the "so-ugly-its-cute" look![]()
The little polish love to have their picture taken!
The prettiest one is the little black cochin between the two uglies lol
hello...
And little cripple baby still makes it over to the water and food...
She's feathering slower, but I think might be frizzled too.
And this is prissy frizzle...

6000 posts...how did we ever get here? I can't imagine reading them all at once lol but welcome crissycriss, and thanks for hanging in there when we can be idiots sometimes lol.
It's been said it before, but my favorite thing on this thread is how everything can be going fifty different directions, conversations all over the place, but if someone has a "real" question/problem /issue, this place has some of the most knowledgeable folks around! Somebody here usually has an answer and I love that! I barely read many other threads now. Can't keep up if I do lol!
Let me just say that I am right...nuff said.
OMG!!!! That last picture needs to be your avatar!!!! LoL!!! I love it!And btw Polish babies are not "Little Uglies" they are so stinking cute!

WV those are so cool is the one with the bad leg doing any better at all.
So....is it normal to not seeing veining on Day 13 but the chick is still moving inside? Or does that mean the baby is slowly dying?![]()

They look great! I remember when you first posted the pictures of them. So happy that they recovered and are in good health. Doesn't it feel like a real accomplishment when you nurture an animal back to good health!? Zax is awesome looking!! What kind is he?So the chicks that I rescued, are out of quarantine!!!! They look all wet because I just gave them a bath. They were filthy from their quarantine pen I had to something.Clean Chickies!!!
Here is Vulture Face. Poor girl has a terrible name.

What are these ones called? I've never seen them before.
Love it! I think this is something that most of us have in common on here.BUT i'm here to get my mind off that garbage and back to basics like homesteading, farming, and seeing living things bring forth their own kind.
Love the pics!! I've decided to do polish frizzles next month!! I'm having a hard time finding specific breeders to ship eggs this time of year, so we'll see. I think yours look adorable. Have you decided anything about the little black one with the bad leg?Just took a few new pics of the babies, thought I'd share.
