She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

My pullets are cranking out some pretty little eggs now. I'm having a hard time telling who's laying what. I'm getting a pretty blue egg that does not belong to my EE hen. So, I think one of the BSL pullets is giving me a huge egg for her age, b/c last year's BSL gals lay more of an aqua or greenish egg. Was going to take a bunch of them to TSC poultry swap next weekend, but may not b/c I want to be sure to hang on to the ones that are laying the most and the best eggs. Have yet to figure out who they are. There are 3 sets of look alikes. I may just hang on to all of them, and eat the older slackers. If any one wants to give some advice on an other thread, here it is. She has a broken blood vessel on a pipper. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1020393/bleeding-egg#post_15825506
That blue egg sounds beautiful!!
If she's going in by herself, I think I'd open it for a few days and see what happens. Close it off if they try to sleep or poop in it. I think 17 weeks may be early for silkies though, but maybe not. Someone else can weigh in on that.
Ok, I will try that. I was very surprised to see her in there at all, let alone by herself. I know that it is kinda early but someone on the silkie board got one at 17 weeks but I know that's not the norm.
X2. I'd open them up, pop in a golf ball, and let her scope out the area.
Golf ball....good idea! The kids have some in the bottom of the toy box (it's a boy thing).
Pretty lacing on that one!

I can't wait to get to sork ;)
I knew that would be to hard for you to resist! :gig
oh how fun! I havent been to a pig roast in years and years!! this area, and I really appreciate the honesty! Hubs doesnt like the carry laws in the state though, esp if we are in the middle of nowhere with the bears, but I have no clue what laws are in the south on that issue either. Anyways, I am open to going ANYWHERE but here, just want to live someplace else for once in my life!
That's way west of me. Probably like 4-6 hrs. They have a lot of chicken shows up that way!

what a sweet coop! love the time you put into her!

I can only imagine, those redwoods sound just mystical!

I hear ya

no I wouldnt think so, and about the pup, people can be ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh seriously!!! makes me so mad!
Okayyyy. I was born in Utica, (New Hartford actually but my mom thought the hospital was still in Utica until she got my birth certificate). I grew up a little more north than your top line up past Watertown...lol I lived in the Syracuse area for 12 years after I graduated college. That's a big area to look at. As for the carry laws...yeah, ever since the "safe act" carriers in this state have not been very happy. I don't own a gun, so I don't know all it entails but I know "repeal the safe act" signs are very prominent....lol Between the weather, the taxes and the laws, the state sucks....lol Windchill factor making temps 30 and 40 below aren't fun...lol

I would say more like 4 ish??? My ex was stationed at Green Haven Correctional and he had a 6 hour drive to get back up here? That was Dutchess county I think...You're close to that aren't you?

Okay...admittedly, I don't get out & about now like I did before retirement, but I didn't realize I was THAT far out of the loop. So will someone please tell me what a "SORK" is?

That was supposed to be WORK, but the s is close to the w and I'm very out of it today fighting awful allergies... :tongue

*sigh* this is gonna haunt me forever now, isn't it?

Oh, ok...didn't think about a typo. Just figured it was another of the myriad of terms I've been exposed to since joining this thread that I don't understand.
The only way it'll haunt you is if SC somehow finds a way to make something out of it...I'll never tell
