Ya know, this makes me wonder if there is some kind of way to "replace" the bloom, if we do wash eggs. Ruby mentioned on that FB thread they used Listerine. Seems like there would be something we could dip the eggs in, to preserve them. I'm going to have to do some research on this.

My chicken eggs are usually fairly clean, but my duck must like to roll hers all around. If I don't get it early, she gets it filthy. Its just dirt, not poo, so I just wipe it off. I'd still incubate without washing the dirt, but poo is a different subject.

I've often wondered if isinglass (a collagen substance) would do the trick. The eggs would have to be sanitzed before application, and the isinglass made with boiled water as well.

In other news: The last two white eggs I have candled have both had firm air cells, so hopefully my pullet's system has straightened out.

I can hear the peeping under my broody. Earlier you could hear them tapping/zipping something....lol It's cute to watch the broody. All of a sudden her back end will come up and she'll shift like the baby moved then she sticks her head down in front and chortles to them. I have to say documenting mommy's behaviors makes a great addition for our bird life cycle study. Maybe I should order reptile eggs.....

Just joking.

Either way you look at it the "fertility chart" I was taught by asians, both Chinese and Korean, seems to be accurate. 5 kids, only one girl.

Hahahaha!!! I didnt even know that Koreans had a fertility chart. Now I have to look this up. Mine was wrong. It told me my second child was going to be a boy but it was a girl. Lol!!!!
