She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I'm not sure - I've had chicks arrive DOA before, but they were on time, not lost who knows where. Although I think the ones that arrived DOA must have mishandled in some way to cause that since they weren't late - left out in the cold or something.

And I do have pictures - I took them in case the seller wants them to put in a claim for the insurance - since she offered to reship more chicks for me, I won't put the claim in unless she doesn't want to.
Good thing it ain't me! I'd have the newspapers & the local TV station on this in a New York minute!

The chicks have arrived - after I called the 1 800 number, waited on hold forever, got someone, told them they were going to die if I didn't get them today, and the person opened up some sort of thing to find them. However, it is not happy news :( The seller did all she could - they had two heat packs and a cup of grogel. The heat packs had gone cold, since it has been over 72 hours since they were shipped. The cup of grogel was flipped upside down with all the grogel still in it, so the chicks couldn't eat it. This tells me that their box was flipped around at one point.

Unfortunately most of them were DOA. I'm trying to bring a couple back from the brink of death, but they're looking rough. One died as I was trying to revive them already.

:hugs this is just so horrible! Get them warm and hydrated. Are you syringing electrolytes in them?

Are you at least going to get your money back for the shipping?

Sorry to hear that. Was hoping it would turn out better.

Personally, I totally forgot about trying to talk to SC into a parade since he was hanging out. I feel it should be 85% for home grown/local eggs and I don't know about shipped. If you get 50% shipped that's supposed to be good so what do people think is considered "Parade worthy" for shipped eggs. If SC doesn't want to continue with them, that's fine, but if we are going to continue the "parades" I want it to be agreed upon and fair for everyone. Not everybody has a fool proof bator. The other thing is broody hatches. I think broody hatches are a different category. I don't mind doing parades for incubator hatches, but I'd rather not get into broody hatches. Parade stats from lockdown rate-all agreed?

Another thing- rounding. If I do parades I will be rounding down not up. If 4.5 is the number needed that's saying that 4 have to hatch-not 5. (The .5 can be considered the growth that made it alive to lockdown and didn't make it.)

I agree... broody's don't count, that's nature done, lol... 85% for own eggs, I think 75% for shipped... that's from lockdown numbers? Cuz a clear will never hatch no matter what you do, lol...

Well, I've changed my philosophy quite a bit since my last hatch! I used to leave chicks in the incubator for 12-24 hours. With the last hatch, I had my eye on those wrong end pippers and the hatched chicks kept seriously knocking the pipped eggs around. One pip got pushed flat up against the window. It got me thinking about the nest and the chicks would be asleep under mom after hatch, while the other eggs were still hatching, not bowling the eggs around the nest. Since you helped me with the hatch, I started moving chicks to the brooder right after hatch. And I will continue to do it that way from now on. I kept the brooder around 100 too and they did fine and seemed calmer in the brooder then the incubator.
So very adorable!
Awesome pics!! Thanks for posting these! What date did you set?
At least you got a few chicks!! :hugs
What happened to the other eggs besides the 3 clear? Did they die from getting cold?
:love great pic!
I was really hoping you'd have the chicks by now!! Can no one tell you where they are? In my experience, the people who work there only know what we know, which is what the tracking shows. And if someone screwed up scanning and the tracking info is incorrect then they have no other info to offer on the phone. What gets me is that this is an express delivery with live chicks, totally unacceptable! Please keep us posted! :hugs

Set Halloween night, so those were Day 11... due on Thanksgiving... :)

Been busy getting locked and my new gig as ambassador to Israel.
Hi everybody :frow

So sorry... :hugs

If they were guaranteed delivery by 3pm the other day, she/he should at least get the shipping cost back so it doesn't cost her/him again to ship new batch... awesome that they're willing to send more, btw... that's a good breeder/person...

shouldn't be sheading tears over eggs that traveled that far . the rain chill factor first time using the incubator . all factor into the hatch rate . trying to synchronize shipped eggs to a broody hen . even one is plus one . as I recall the last time it was zero . good job A .P . you too Ravyn you got her good eggs that traveled around two thousand miles give or take .:bow .:thumbsup

I'm ok... just sucks that others I've sent didn't go as rough... already told her I'll send more in Spring when she wants them... she makes yummy jam, lol... :D
