She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I'm just using the hatcher and only had nineteen eggs in it . only hatched nine . just got my parts to fix the incubators and still need to clean one . I'm full brooders are full growers are full .  My hens went on strike . not getting many eggs at all . so the hundred and fifty egg hatch will have to wait till I grow and sell . for the first time since march everything is off . last one hatched today . I'm thinking I'm going to need a very large brooder. also thinking more grow outs . my sister called for thirty dozen eggs this weekend and I didn't have them  Now it's time to get to work on two more twenty hen laying coops and lighting systems to get egg production back up .  as I set here I don't know how many eggs I hatched this year .just know it is a lot . and thanks to Ravyn I now have some Lavender Ameraucanas  oh crap three more hen houses two of those already in the works . I think the Hens want me to take a break. I know the house hens do . so I'll be good till I get some sold more built more eggs . I'm sounding greedy more more more .
.

Strike!! Yep, they heard it here too... it is seriously sad that 10 Call ducks are outlaying at least 100 hens in November... :barnie

IKR and we're still feeding them .I got some real pretty lavender chicks this hatch. I think one is part moose .five this hatch. three Sulmatalers one black AM. if I can find time I'll finish wiring the main chicken coops and get lights on them should help . also a better hatching room My EEs laid all last winter without lights and have just stopped laying .they should start laying again when the days start getting longer .I'm with walnut can't wait till spring. I won't need to hatch every weekend next year every other should do it .see If I can get pictures of the chicks tomorrow not going to work . for someone else that is . always plenty to do here . other thing Ravyn the last two winters Dec. has been colder than Feb. early winter may be pretty cold again this year . past my bed time .

Going a bit off topic.....

So Buster has really come around over the last week. He hasn't had any triggers/episodes since day 2. He has become pretty trustful and more and more affectionate. He enjoys being petted and doesn't usually flinch. He hasn't got to the giving kisses point yet, but he looks for attention and wants to be inside now rather than out. He loves his walks and especially his treats. He doesn't sleep upstairs with us and still won't or can't (haven't figured out which yet,) get on the couch or bed yet and generally stays downstairs as it gets pretty warm upstairs and he pants when he's up here.

He's not a barker or whiner, but tonight I heard him give out a yelp. A minute later another bark/yelp so of course I went down to investigate. Once I got downstairs I heard my father in his bedroom struggling for breath. I hurried to set him up with a neb treatment and calm him down. (He goes into a panick attack-understandably-when he can't breath.) I never heard a thing before Buster's alert. I don't know what would have happened w/o Buster alerting me, but I'm glad I didn't have to find out. Of course he got lots of loving and a treat. And I swear this dog smiles!
That is the best thing I have heard since I was told my favorite band is going on tour again. But your story is way more believable.
Go buster!

Rescues can be so awesome sometimes. Warm thoughts to you and your dad.

last night I had a the same thing helped the chick to hatch watch it lay there and shake it could not open its beak . it could not bend it's leg moved it and the one unhatched egg and one other chick into my old bower incubator it regains heat quicker than the GQF hatcher after I was sure it was warm . I took a salad bowl from Mcdonalds and filled it with hot tap water . I then put a heat lamp above the bowl and adjusted the water temperature to 100 degrees and washed the sticky off the chick . a chick that we were sure was dead started cheaping trying to walk thirty minutes later it was doing great . today it is eating and drinking . and still doing great. don't let the baby get cold . don't be afraid to try to save your hatchling

Nice work, 910. Oh, and

Here too. haven't gotten a single egg in. . . idk, a week or two. Feels like forever. Seems early for this kind of thing, but what do I know? not a lot as 910 will verify.

We have 130 or so hens, currently getting about 50% rate of lay. Only a few are old holdovers that are molting, a few are youngsters that haven't started yet, and the turkeys aren't helping because they keep unplugging the chicken lights. We add three hours of 40 watt equivalent in the morning, just enough to get the girls out of bed, eating and drinking.

I need to sort turkeys this week. It's nearly Thanksgiving!

Thank you everyone for the help. I just used warm water and a q-tip and is doing much better. So far I have pretty good lockdown numbers. 3 of 3 chickens & 4 of 8 ducks. Day 27 starts at 930am. I did a quick candle and not seeing movement in the remainders.
Heres some pics :)

the yellow one is the newest addition. Its either a Peking or a Peking Khaki cross. Looks like a Peking but quacks like a Khaki. The other 3 ducks appear to be Rouen Khakis.

Oh yes, I forgot you were just using it as a hatcher. Why such low hatch rate? I'm sure you will figure it out. Looking forward to some pics. I'd like to have some lavender Ams. Maybe next spring. Sorry you aren't getting eggs. Mine are faring a little better and haven't stopped so abruptly, but I'm sure it will happen.

Love the duck sitting in the bowl! And those poofy faced ones are adorable! Well, they all are adorable! Keep us posted on the rest of the duck hatch, and good luck!

Thanks for asking about the little chick, guys. The umbilical cord fell off and it seemed okay with that. It ended up having curly toes. I made it corrective shoes out of Band-Aids but some time between 5 and 7 this morning it died. I guess it just wasn't meant to survive after all.
