We are supposed to hit the 20's tomorrow and then 30 for the majority of the rest of the week. One day in the next 2 weeks, not that I remember when, it's supposed to hit 40...lol We're still supposed to have below freezing temps at night the next 2 weeks, but not below zero.Oh my goodness....so so cute!!! How's the hatch going?
That's terrible! I'm sorry!![]()
It's disgustingly cold outside! I moved the young girl inside with my hen that's apprently going broody. (I'm considering giving her some eggs tomorrow when it warms up.) Supposed to be 30's-50's all week...thank god!
Then I went outside to bring fresh water and two young cockerels were fighting. They always fight a little, so I didn't think anything of it. Next time I went out to check on them, there was blood everywhere!! Apprently one of them got their butt kicked. I brought him in and he was gushing blood from the comb. But it was freezing as it was coming out. I cleaned him up and I just bought this spray the other day, called vetricyn (or something like that), so I was prepared. I put him downstairs with the girls, since everyone was pecking at the blood. Why do they have to pull this crap when it's so cold?! I've been bundling up and making trips out there all day! What are signs of frostbite??
And I just got back from the feed store because I caved and bought a farm innovators heated water dish. It's supposed to work in freezing temps, so![]()
I couldn't keep up!
So adorable! Look like little penguins. Is hatch over? How'd it go?
Black spots, pale/white areas, swelling, blistering are some of the signs. I have to go out at least every 2 hours and break up the ice.
