Chooks!!! I'm not sure I have anything to offer at this moment for the ship a thon. Trying to figure out possible fertility issues with my boy...and no CLBS anymore.

Aw, no! Sorry to hear about your CLB's. We lost our connect for them, too. His entire site just vanished and we can't find his email in your chicken contacts(I know he was in there). What breeds are you working with now?

I was in the same predicament in November. I only had 1-2 hens laying and I really wanted to do the NYD Hal. So I started collecting eggs on November 9th. Set day was December 8th. That means my oldest egg was 31 days old when I set it. Can you believe that, that egg was the first to hatch!! I had a great hatch. I had set a dozen and 9 made it to lockdown and all 9 hatched. I stored the eggs in a egg carton on my counter and turned them once in the morning and once at night and maybe once during the day if I remembered. BUT my humidity in the house at that time was still good. So the air cells were not overly big when I set them. I think keeping your humidity up is a good idea.
I've done my fair share of shipped eggs and done lots of research on the best methods for shipped. If you need any advice for them, please don't hesitate to ask. What's your plan so far for them?
I was wondering how to mark the eggs that I've collected that were cold. Duh, seems obvious now.
"Cold"...good idea!

I was going to ask about the cake but I saw your next post. Going with the theme from the movie! I can't wait to see it!! I really, really wish you lived closer because my kids would LOVE that cake!!

good luck on the set!!!
Ruby! I couldn't help but think of you when our eggs arrived today. I'm so nervous about letting them set for so many days. lol But I trust the advice I've been given.

They're on the counter.

Do you suggest marking the box with "Eggs", "Fragile", and or "Live Embryos"?
The best shipped hatch I ever had was from an unmarked box. The seller wouldn't even mark the box because so many "fragile" boxes had been destroyed. Curious what your experience has been.
We have only had two shipments. Both marked "Fragile" Second one marked "Glass" as well. First one wasn't damaged, but the hatch rate was poor. This second one was packed well and double boxed. Box wasn't damaged, but 3 eggs were cracked! I'm starting to wonder if the Atlanta facility is rough on boxes. I have heard that boxes marked as eggs and live embryos are treated more roughly than those which are not.

@RubyNala97 I got one side done!! The Pac Man side...lol Only three more to go! Had to break to run to town and have lunch, gotta get back to it.... I need to find my good cam in the next 24 hours too cause this phone sucks:

That. is. AWESOME!!

Shipathon is still on... holler back soon!!!
frow.gif

Well you have your hands full, dontcha? lol Cute. Glad the shipathon is still on! Now if I can just get our wyandottes to lay. . .

Yeah, the ship a thon is still on. I have a ? Is it too late to add an other person? Someone not on this thread, but a long time member who wants to gain some shipping experience.

Certainly, you have time to forsake household duties. That ranks right up there with slinging chicken poo, and watching things grow!

Ha! I wish it were that easy! Thank god for a whole mess of rain. Now I can stay inside for a bit. :D But there's still a ton of stuff to do--always is with a big family. We are also setting up gardening boxes right now(late, I know) the old fashioned way with a wheelbarrow and strong back. I am trying a square foot/polyculture thing this time, since our garden wasn't the best last year. I managed to get 4 boxes filled(8 to go), and now I can't find my seeds! Was taking all of our boxes out of storage to look for them when it started pouring. lol

Feel free to forsake your household duties in my honor!

I shipped some to a lady and she said they all look great, packaging was good, box was not damaged, but that the air cells seem to be detached. I'm not sure how normal that is.

That's good to know. Any difference between shipping USPS or UPS that anyone knows of?

I've never tried ups. I remember this girl Megan, who was on this thread for a little, had eggs ups, I can't remember what the outcome was.

Thank you. It's a crappy pic, but...I FOUND MY CAMERA!!  Now I can get good pics!

Donkey King is done and that was a big pain in the butt. These "pixel" characters are autrocious! lol

Need Donkey Kong pics!!

Hey!!!

What's your plan? How long are you letting them rest? How were the aircells?
