We get it that you think you are right. But there is no harm in anything else being recommended. Let the OP decide what she wants to try from every recommendation, including yours. All opinions count, but it's up to the bird owner.

And that is why we are concerned, but also why it is important to give her the higher dose of calcium... if she corrects from higher calcium intake, then she is just one that needs higher calcium when she is laying...

Yep, some ducks just need higher calcium, especially those breeds that lay a lot of eggs. Amiga had that trouble with her runners, and she details her experiences with it here.

Since your girl has been laying almost three weeks now, she may have just gone through all the calcium she had stored up and is just now running into issues because she's out.

Not outrage, not needed...Simple care and no need for concern to stress the Bird out...One Hen who is probably being over bred by one Randy Drake and her young productive system is being compromised by that act of breeding..I'm not arguing..I'm explaining..

I see no signs of this duck being overbred... in fact, feather and body-wise she looks exceptionally good!

Not all drakes overbreed when in pairs... many are quite content to have one girl and form excellent partnerships...

I am very thankful that everyone has put their input on this, very thankful!!! I am new to this and all hands on deck is how I handle any problem in this thing we call life. Yes there is a thing called TMI but I strongly feel when undertaking any new task, especially a life, the more input the better! I don't want to step on any toes, nore do I want to ignore anyone's advise and I would hope that we are all here for same reason....knowledge, understanding, and guidance.

Yes..I am an advocate of not medicating unless needed..I rescue Ducks....Kittens and Puppies...Regular vaccines and maybe a shot of antibiotics for kittens with respiratory disease..Not an argument but I want to let you know you can trust my help and information...

Calcium is not a medication or an antibiotic... it is a mineral supplement... same level as a vitamin supplement... which some individuals, regardless of breed or species, need higher amounts of that others do not...
