Shipping Eggs (Just a vent.)

I have learned that my PO at least answers the phone well before they open. I start early in the morning of the day they are due in. I have been told "they weren't on the last truck for the day" and been directed to the the main sorting house. Explained that they were live embyros and didn't need to be left over the weekend. Was told they couldn't search all the pallets, but in the end a supervisor delivered them to me at 5:30 pm that evening. Unfortunately they managed to break two extremely well wrapped and packaged eggs.

I hate to say it but it is the sellers fault, we sell alot of eggs and NEVER ship on Thursday. That is just begging for the eggs to sit in the PO over the weekend. I don't like to even ship on Wedesday if the eggs are staying in our own state.

Steve

I missed where the eggs were shipped from. Were the eggs shipped priority or express?

I assume they were shipped priority, but like I've said before, it stated on the USPS website when I checked the tracking number that they should have gotten here today. I suppose it's a lesson learned.

And I did call the PO several times, no one answered the phone. I should have driven down there, but I had other things going on and couldn't get down there by 12. I'm pretty sure it's not my local PO's fault though, because when I ordered my chicks, they called me before they opened and let me pick them up before they opened. I warned them in advance I was getting these eggs too. So I"m pretty sure they just didn't get to my local PO today.

There's not too much available locally (for what I want anyway) so that's why I wanted to try this. It's probably better in the long run for me to just get day old chicks or drive several hours and pick some up. I"m just bummed is all.

Sorry, NC. Not that far.... I've had things shipped from farther get to be in two days. I was just being too optimistic. I will know better next time!

Never know with all the snow , could have held up the truck.....up north heck even the airports where closed. rain, snow or sleet ,mail must get thru....but not on TIME.

Really Thursday bad day to ship priority.

Nothing is ever that far when the weather is good. Your egg supplier should have used express, if you local Po can handle express, or FedEx. Next time ship Monday, the USPS primary job is to move mail not eggs.

I have been sending out eggs for the last month, with NO problems! Put fragile on some, not on others. Shipped to california nothing broke, 1 state away and dang near all of them were broke! I packed the same way and everything. P.O. people told me that it didn't matter what I wrote on the box, they aren't suppose to even look at them if the postage has been paid online. That's why we get the discount, so they don't have to handle them. Now I have to send out more eggs to people because I don't want bad feedback from anyone! Maybe I shouldn't but 70% of my customers are repeat egg-fenders as I call them! :) and I want to make them happy.

Plus most of them are on here. And us backyardigans talk :)

Eggs often beat the odds and end up o.k. If the eggs were fresh when they were shipped,I bet they will be fine. Good luck to you. I will probably begin shipping soon. I try to wait until the threat of bad weather on my end is minimum.
