shipping in two boxes? Confused

No. They sent my order, and somehow someone ELSE'S order got tagged with my name. . .
so I got someone elses chicks that were being rushed to CA . . .in WV yesterday. .. I
called them and they said they couldn't take them back, to keep them. . .and that MY
order was also on it's way. Confusing I know. . I was totally baffled for a while yesterday.

the mystery is how my name and address got on the other box. . .it's very strange. But I
just got a call that the PO has my original order of peeps. So once I get the kids off
to school, I'll go pick them up.

So apparently this is how chicken math works I've discovered. .. .

Start an order for 15 chicks (minimum order). . .. sneak chicks
onto the list until you reach 24 .. .and your husband starts giving
you dirty looks. . . .smile and offer to let him pick out the last hen
because hey, 25 is a nice number. . right?? Husband peruses the
breeds and picks TWO. . . a golden laced wyandotte and a dominique..
Call in order for 26 chicks. ... get a meal maker thrown in. . .27. . .
pay and wait expectantly for a box of 27 chicks. . .get impatient and
call and ask for your tracking number so you can torture yourself watching
it's progress. . . get TWO tracking numbers without any explanation why
there are two numbers.. not one.

Get first box, because boxes are separated even though they were sent
at the same time (one was sent express apparently). . find 50 chickens in
the box. . .call hatchery in a panic and get told 'uhhh, merry christmas, they
are yours now, can't be sent back'. .. . So start scrambling to get a place
for that many chicks and then get your original order of 27 on top of the
surprise box.

wow. my cup runneth over. I hope my own order is doing well. going to get them
soon.

This has been entertaining, now that you have the bigger brooder set up, time to start working on that giant coop ....
Hope your chicks all arrive safely...

my current coop is 19 x 12 inside..but the yard will have to be made bigger. . . .so it will accommodate more than my original 27 (+3 marans I already have). .
but it will not comfortably hold 80 birds. So at least some will have to go elsewhere before it's time to
move outside.

Maybe your hubby needs his own coop, he was the one that picked the Wyandotte and the Dominique, so it looks like all 16 new Wyandottes were meant to be his and the Barred Rocks are close to Dominiques so there are 5 more chickens for him....
