Shot goose help...

I too would be careful not to seal a puncture wound with glue. At times it's better to let a deep wound weep if need be as opposed to sealing in a bad infection that will spread inside. The wound will heal faster exposed to the air where it can scab over and dry up, a very small dab of vicks salve worked into the feathers around the hole with a q-tip should keep flies away. I would also consider keeping her penned up in a dry place where you can keep flies away as much as possible. If she needs company put another goose with her out of earshot of the rest of the flock, they should settle down in time. A good flush for maggots is a few drops of Shakley Basic-H mixed with about a quarter cup of sterilized water, be careful not to get a lot of it in her eye although if flushed with water it will be fine. Ducks and geese are a lot more resilliant than chickens when it comes to healing up from wounds, I've seen some pretty remarkable recoveries. Best regards hope all goes well, also don't blame a firearm for the wound, if it was intentional the person (I'm being gracious) shooting the goose is the problem; not the gun! Hope all goes well, let us know how things turn out.
