Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

got the 3 dozen brown's packed, and got the last 3 days worth of eggs put away. the wind is making it seem chillier inside, maybe it is a bit... because I feel a draft coming through the electrical sockets in the kitchen. I'm back in the long johns and woolly socks.

Lot of crazy busy here, miss talking to u guys. Got my new sportsman incubator, and have it stuffed full.
Cut my egg flock down to bare minimum for the winter, and only have 4 roos that need to go.
Laying has picked up very well, we have tripled plus since january! My only slackers are the scovies and guinea.

Love the quail eggs beyond yummy

I boil up about 50 at a time and snack on them for lunches.
DD made a bunch of them up as deviled eggs, was really good and too cute!

The feeling I got as if the lottery I won,
I've been checking and checking to see when they lay
Imagine my surprise that today was the day
Some pie and treats and scratch galore
I'm hoping tomorrow brings me some more



It wasn't in the nest but it was on the floor right near the nest so I'm hoping they'll figure it out.
I've had fake eggs in the nest for a while now.
It's one of the Marans for sure but the one with the really red comb/wattles isn't squatting while the other one is... hmmmm

What's ironic is we were down to 1 egg in the fridge and I made DH buy another dozen yesterday.

Congratulations! and doesn't it figure that you break down and buy more just to have them start laying!! a perfect little egg you've got and a lovely color! if she's laying this dark to begin with, you will have some seriously gorgeous eggs from her as time passes and they darken more. Love the Poem! so glad you were inspired by today's tidings!

my girls laid 15 today, and truth be told, I think Sillie is my new layer. I did find a tiny egg that is not Esther's, and would be a very very small LF pullet egg, but still could be... some of the Cochin eggs were pretty small at first. but I say Sillie, because Royce was wooing all his old flockmates... and the one to follow him back? yup.
