I just got to catch up finally, just in time for Thanksgiving coming up.. Still no eggs here, i think I've broke my chickens.

Sounds like everyone is having plenty of production, and soooo glad matilda is ok

The temp is already 65 today, on the to do list is fresh bedding for the nests today...have to make a trip to the sawmill before the rains come this week. Then once the poarch overhang is done I'll be ready for winter...maybe move my feed onto the poarch as well. (Make a covered walkway over to the coop...or heck, just move the whole coop closer) ha. The walk over there seems so much farther away in 3 feet of snow....frozen egg anyone?
If I built a chicken ladder up to my doorbell I'm pretty sure they would ring the doorbell when they wanted to come inside and lay a egg. Amazing how you can manipulate them with pie.

I'm never caught up. Especially since I discovered BYC.

Your chickens should be fine, it's just a slow time of year even for those not eating alpaca food. Have you tried some extra electrolytes/vitamins for them? Something like Save-a-chick might help.

We were very relieved about Matilda. There are two on the wouldn't-mind-too-much-if-she-got-eaten-first list, and the BA isn't one of those. However, I may have to amend my list if she doesn't start laying in the nest box.

By the way, alpaca pics would be lovely!

I'm fine. It's deer season in Kentucky. I been sitting in a tree featherless freezing so my feathered friends will have venison pie to eat. At least I want them to believe that. They love venison

Ha! Any luck? The deer have moved out around here, as have the coyotes, which makes me think the mountain lion has taken up residence on the hill again. Hubby sees all kinds of deer standing in the road on the way to work. Still rutting.

Deer question: If a buck is a 4 pointer, does that mean he's got 4 total or 4 per side (8 total)? I've always been too embarrassed to ask those in the know.

ASK and you shall receive hehehe! Comet is on the left, Beanie is on the right. These are the prior owners pics, The black one is her female, and she thinks was beanies offspring before he was gelded.. (oops)

Beanie with a turkey poult. My cornish cross just loved these guys.
I will get more pics soon of my own. Comet is very shy, beanie is a big ham, and much friendlier. They are so soft!

I got home tonight and tended to the knuckleheads and as I walked back to the garage I noticed this deer standing beside my firewood. Had my camera in the garage so I snapped this picture. Soon as Roger noticed the deer she starting yelling. I'm sure she was telling me to shoot the deer so she could help eat it. I don't think so Roger. We are not desperate here you just think we are
