Hey guys! We have had a rough weekend. We had a family reunion yesterday and on the way our van broke down on the side of the interstate. We spent an hour and 45 minutes waiting for hubby's uncle and we still ended up having to have it hauled home on a roll-back. We regrouped and went on down. Hubby had to go in to work at 8 so it ended up being a quick trip. He came home for a couple hours sleep around midnight and had to go back in at 5. He wasn't a happy camper. He got back home around 10ish this morning and was sick. I'm hoping we don't all catch it!
Oh no...always sucks when you break down, I can't imagine being stuck at the side of the road with kids. Hope your hubby feels better before everyone else catches his cold.
It was definitely interesting. We had a portable dvd player and they watched psrt of the little mermaid and colored. When hubby's uncle got there we put my crew in their van and they got in ours and his wife brought me and the kids home. Then when they all got back we headed on down to the reunion. It was at Lazy 5 Ranch which is owned by hubby's 3rd cousin. Awesome place!
the Lazy 5 Ranch looks like a really wonderful place to visit and explore!
I'm home early and awaiting the arrival of a dear friend. we'll play outside with the chickens and then have something to eat. I haven't seen her since Summer of '13, so this should be lots of fun! the house is clean, nice and toasty warm, and smells wonderful as I'm heating up the soup I made the other day - if she likes it, I have 2 quarts to send her home with.
so later on, I should have some fun photos to share of our afternoon and if I'm lucky... I'll have some photos of Mylee's 5 birthday party and trick or treating - she was a witch, or as she says, a Nice Witch, you know Omi... the pretty kind.
at age 3 she was a kitty, 4 she was a princess, and now a witch, no repeats according to her, so I'm in charge of remembering.
It is a great place to explore! Normally we ride a wagon through the park and go through the petting zoo part but it was so cold and windy that we just took the truck through.
Have a great visit with your friend and we look forward to pictures of Mylee!
Where is everyone? It has been eerily quiet on here lately!
Here is one of the Bator brood.... he is a light blue color with some red leakage. I think he's going to be a gorgeous rooster, so he is making the cut for the cull list.....
Both of the blacks in the middle are from the bator brood. The back one is a definite cockerel, and I am hoping the front one is a pullet.
Jezebel is always the first one to see what treats I am bringing.... and the first one to complain if I didn't bring anything.
This is Bertie, she is one of my blue cochin girls!
One of the white bator boys.
The light blue cockerel.
I'm hoping that this blue one is a pullet.... I can't ever get a good picture because it is always on the move!
Harriet and her babies.... we are down to 6- 4 blacks and 2 whites....
Lindz, your chickens are really pretty. I have a girl who looks almost like Jezebel... Is she a red sex link or some call them golden comets? I have 6 sex links and they are super friendly and yes, they always expect treats and usually get them.

lindz, I think the black is a pullet also, and my 2 cents on the blue is pullet based on body shape. same for the white.
they are all beautiful.
I finished winterizing the back pen, the Dome is also "done" except for the fitted strip for the door, which I cannot find.
and I put a new roost up for the Fosters and Royce. I can move it to another pen section if I decide to move them. the plan is to move all the bantams into the larger 2 chambers and use the end section for breeding, brooding, rearing... and still have the small broody pen for overflow. the Fosters and the Dome group have never associated with each other. the one year anniversary of the Fosters arrival is a month away... I'd like to move them into the Dome, but the throwdowns might be nasty. so anyway... here's what went on tonight
from left to right
Fiona: I'm sleepin' sideways tonight!
Royce:
Finnia (Big Broody Mama) Life is good.
Fianna: Zzzzzz
Flo: don't move Sister, this thing could shatter at any moment!
Fawn (Sister): omg Flo! why'd she put us up here???
Fannie: Does this roost make me look skinny?
