There is a way to select for double yolk laying hens. I read a post about an Amish farm that uses a rooster from one breed and hens from another--which produces hens that lay mostly double yolked eggs.Oh and I thought I would let you guys know as it made me laugh, a U.K. shop Marks and Spencer's has started stocking a special brand of egg. The brand promises that every egg will be a double yolker, every time I see them stock they sell out really quickly. On the back of the box it says something along the lines of whenever we get new layers we tend to get these eggs, every one has been checked to make sure they are double yolkers
Darina.... where do you live? And I am not against driving to Spokane or Sandpoint for 2 chicks. I'd do almost anything for Rumples.
I would be fretting, and googling and diagnosing...Ah, the life of a first-year chicken mother! (Not counting when I had them at 10 years old.)I'm not concerned. Just commenting.
