Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Thank you Abigail. Lots of family stuff, moved, and the big one, my wife died. Now after 5 of us, 4 cats, a dog and 5 chickens living together it's just me, 1 cat and 4 hens. In a new town. With a new temporary coop for the girls. I've updated my "accounts" as something comes up, and I finally got back here. I'll NEVER catch up now :>)

I am glad you are back. I hope you are able to stick around. Catching up is overrated. Just jump in, and start talking again.

No, but I lived near Sawyers Bar for 14 years, then back to The Bay for 30 years. My son lives near Greenview.

Yreka is a very nice place. It is high plains and unique to California.

I am sorry for your loss!

Like Abigail said, do not worry about catching up. Jump in and post on your favorite threads.

Nutcup!

now... I know I posted all of this last night, it was here, and now it's gone... but these are my good friends, and they will take Brutus and Neffy and tiny Dutch as well as a good list of large fowl ladies. I cannot sneak Brutus and Neffy, I could have if the house in Bennett didn't fail inspection by a mile, but we found a gorgeous house in Greeley which we close on 8/2. Wrangler and I had a good cry about it, but she's as happy as I am that Barbara will have hugging chickens, she's always wanted to hold her girls, and even as chicks, they were so flighty. they've lost quite a few to foxes, so Manfred is building a fence and will finish on Tuesday, pick them up on Wednesday... I have the 6 youngest large fowl that hatched this Spring leaving today, going to another couple of great friends... most of the bantams will have to go to the wildlife rescue and the rest of the large fowl too, if no one claims them... cutting it close, my brother leaves with the moving truck on Sunday 7/31, Oma following in her car, cats and dogs spread between the two... and Wrangler and I fly out Monday morning 8/1. we'll stay with my folks until they roll in around 8/3... I'm leaving even before my own house sale closes. then I go to the Mayo Clinic 2 weeks later. can't wait til all of this hectic stress is over!
I have cysts on my kidneys and spleen and a "grossly abnormal" bacterial overload in my gut - not from the chickens, just so y'know! and I'm on antibiotics.
PS, I can have hens in Greeley, just haven't checked on limits...

god be with you, i know how hard it is to move out of state, i did that with dh 11 years ago, boy i did not know how hard it was going to be to say good by to a home we built, we both cried, but it has turned out good for us, hope you have as much luck with your move

thanks... and it will be better when it's over, then I will be on the road to recovery!
so... the folks that I pictured above... who are taking a bunch next week, must finish building their fence first... they put a call in to a lady who lost the majority of her flock, then that lady called another of her friends who lost chickens... (bad fox year) both of these families have built their fences already. well... they all came over today. one lady took Mad Max and Red, along with Gossy and a lot of her Ocean's Eleven female offspring, and the other folks took Zira & Zelda the Cochins, EE's Morgana, Yancy, Olive and I forget who else... I totally lost track of who and how many... and they may return at roost time for more! just not the ones on my first friends list... AND I'm waiting for the couple who are taking the 6 youngest - they should be here any minute... the lady from this couple is the lady who painted Wrangler's portrait last year... so Wrangler is happy that they are all going to good homes.
I won't have many left after that, the rest will go to the wildlife sanctuary down the road. it's sad, but such a relief!

the 6 youngest were just driven away... my yard looks a bit empty

Wow. Big things happening. Sorry the Bennett house fell through, but glad you didn't get stuck with major problems. So happy chicken lovers are giving your guys new homes. You can rest easy over that. With all the driving and flying cross country, what happens to your Jeep?
