Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Ahh I feel Ike I'm reading a good romance novel from the two of you cheeka and jchny!

My husband was a blind date! I was content being single and had thought at that point I'd be single the rest of my life! But I found one of the rare ones out there (tho he just came inside from starting his truck and just gave me a freezing cold hug! Yuck!).
I think I'll go take care of chickens and then crawl back in bed!!!!

AHH CLindz! Men are so silly...! the whole point is to make us jump, shriek... might be better off to say something sweet, like "I'm soooo cold, please warm me up" and keep the icy fingers off our skin for a moment!!!

I almost overslept, hit the snooze button only once, and got a really nice pic of sunrise. I will upload it later, still have card reader issues on the desktop, so the laptop will be hooked up when I get home from work.

have a great day everyone!

Aww.... hubby and I met at the bowling alley where I worked. I was dating a friend of his who turned out to be a jerk. We started talking and spending time together. He was 7 years older and I was 17 and still in high school. My dad really didn't like it. We have been together for 11 years now.

love hearing how y'all met your DH's! I like this guy so much already, that I would pretty much drop anything to spend time with him, but won't allow myself to be so available - although, I have hopped a ride with him when he still has work to do and I'm finished for the day... if he needs to go for supplies... but when we get back, I skidaddle outta there and get myself home. he also likes to send me text messages when he knows I'm out delivering and can't answer because I'm driving... that always gives me a mood lift and makes me smile.

it's so nice to be home early again! it's pretty heavily clouded, but looks to be breaking up, if it gets nicer out, I'll be heading out to give the flock some much needed free range.

well... it never cleared up enough for my taste to allow free range - too windy as well. so I showered the pens with millet and corn to give them lots to scratch around for... and I found 4 Eggs - and all of them were coated in yolky slime - so there was a 5th! it amazes me that we have only gained roughly 3 minutes of daylight since the solstice and my almost 20 month old hens are resuming............. I found 2 blue eggs, one is Isis' jumbo, the other is a 13 month old, which ??? who knows... one pink, so that's another 13 month old, and 7 month old EE Veronica's brown. Blu skipped, but she's been back to laying all week...the Marans skipped too. but I had noticed that they were reaching the end of day, so I'm not surprised.

ooh, fruit loops would be a good addition for the color factor! and yes, fat for the binding of popcorn - much better than marshmallows... fat is liquid gold for the flock, especially in winter.

great story of your meeting, planned or not, it was meant to be... as for myself, this man is very special. I think he's quite handsome, I spend a lot of our time just gazing... makes him laugh when he catches me. a genuine, kind laugh with a smile that melts my icy old heart... gives me goosebumps when he reaches across the table to take my hand. so simple, such small things... I enjoy the slow pace, it's not overwhelming, not jumping in too fast. he's been burned, so it's good for him too, to be appreciated for who he is. he's got one grown daughter, very successful, and one who is still in high school. I've known his younger daughter since she was 7, and I just met his older daughter over Thanksgiving. she's lovely... I've known him for almost 8 years now, but neither of us were single, and so... there was nothing there to "spark". he was single first, but very respectful as far as I was concerned. apparently, when he learned that I was single, he wanted to ask me out immediately, didn't want someone else to beat him to it... but he waited, he wanted me to feel ready to date, plus he didn't know if he was "my type" lol...
(I don't have a "type", I just like teeth...

Wow, 5 pages to catch up on. Glad everyone had a good Christmas. Hope all your venison endeavors paid off, OK, so you-know-who will give you a break. Lindz, glad the pup is working out. I raised Belle when my youngest was only 3 and it was tough. Just accept the fact that you have 5 children now, and it will seem a little easier.

Cheeka, so glad you gave a date update. Anyone that can give you goosebumps (without applying cold fingers) is worth his weight in gold. And teeth are always a bonus! Hubby and I met at the local jr college about half a lifetime ago in a tennis class. I was 18 or 19. Took us about 15 years to grow up and finish school and see the world a bit, but mostly grow up, before we got married in our 30's, and 2 kids rounded out that decade. We are sympatico; I've known him so long I can't imagine life without him.

My mob is looking pretty good lately, sporting all their new plumage. The BA and EE are the only two still moltifying. I have been very bad about taking pictures, so maybe that will be my new year's resolution (except then I have to break a previous resolution not to make any more resolutions!). Still haven't got any good pics of the new kitty either. Ming is fitting in quite well around here. She is a little leery of boys and men, so I am her preferred human. Of course, I am also the one who feeds her, so....

Quote: Loving all the stories!!!! W4W I got a camera for my Christmas gift, so I can finally take pics again!
Glad your little girl is working out well, she will settle in more in time.
I have 2 official new layers! One I think is Fluff my silkie. She is the only other hen old enough in the bantam coop.
The 2nd is in the egg coop, so I haven't a clue yet, but thinking/hoping its Chippy girl..
She is one of my very first "sexlinked" hens from Mabel and Red.
Lots of young hens there so I will have to be a sneak! And I got a Mabel egg today!
So is winter vacation over and my girls are back to work? No more store eggs, I hope

Woohoo! Score on the camera. Way to go Santa! Congrats on the new layers, too. It's going to be egg city around your place come spring!

Hope all is well with you and yours. Take care and keep warm.

Call me ungrateful if you want but next year my Christmas List is going to be much more simple.

1 Dasher
2 Dancer
3 Cupid
4 Comet
5 Donner
6 Vixen
7 Prancer
8 RUDOLPH
in one pound packages frozen except Rudolph save me his head I want to make a light out of it for my coop

You might have to come up with plan B, Roger. That round belly doesn't come from celery sticks.
