Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

You are so right! Well we laid 11 eggs today :yesss: 10 hours of daylight is helping!! 1 pekin, 3 chicken and 7 quail! I have an escapee in the garage, can't find Speckles!!! One of the lil stinkers bounced hard enough to pop the top door open, and Speckles flew the coop! Looks kind of like this cage but has a top door also and much bigger.

Sadie is our only house pet aside from the fish, so she is safe. And I am guessing she is hidden amongst DHs massive clutter in the garage. I am mostly worried about her being hungry or thirsty so I put food and water on the floor.
Good luck finding her!!!! Maybe an excuse to clean thru and remove DH clutter?

I will show you the cartoon. But please don't get mad! I have been physically threatened, and more than properly told off (by DH's relatives on FB!). And they are still going back and forth about how I should suffer in great detail! I took it as, "This weather is too cold! Everyone is hating it! Who would want it back?" I am now well aware of what it really means! On the other side of my day, I got 14 eggs. I am very happy about that.
Oh I thought the cartoon had something to do with cats walking on a counter with poopy feet!!! Lol I love these cards and the more sarcastic the better.... My sarcasm has gotten me in trouble but mostly I'm just the big goofball. I didn't even blink at this which is why I said I didn't see an offensive cartoon! Started w a cold yesterday.... It's not too bad today but def a cold. Just in time for our weekend trip. Praying it doesn't get worse or that DH doesn't get it!

Quote: all right, I did see it yesterday, but because it wan't there anymore... I forgot. I think it's very funny and highly appropriate as it's always the same people complaining... I also thought a mod here slapped your wrist for it... I'm so sorry that you have to cope with folks who have zero sense of humor - and clearly... they thought you were referring to them personally.

get revenge - go visiting in your chicken boots... track poop all over their houses.

Ok so in a weekor so i should have wnough to sell fresh eggs. i was wondering what would be a fair price?

Depends on a couple of things.... Location, organic, etc... I'm prob going to sell mine for 3.50/doz and I'm in NJ
x 2. here in this part of upstate NY, lots of people keep chickens. and those who charge $3/doz don't seem to sell many. I sell for $2 and am told ALL the time that I should charge more because of the varied shell colors... but I don't. out west, fresh, organic eggs sell for about $6/doz, and the tinted blue and green eggs and super dark like Marans sell for as much as $9. for me, it's more about covering feed costs than making a profit.

And now for my 2 cents.
Yes, sometimes a chicken will lay 2 eggs in a day.
Why are your cats on the counter? I have had quite a few cats, and have never had one get onto the counter. Yes, I know they can. I would just have to kill any cat that got onto a table or counter.
Cheeka, I had a dog that loved my dirty underwear.

I also had one that liked my one sister's dirty ... well, tampons. Every time she visited during that time, the dog would take them out of the trash.
And how the heck did you get temps in the 40's the other day?! No fair!

I went out to the coop at 8:30, and there were 4 eggs waiting for me already!! Two were frozen, so I waited for the egg that a RIR was laying. The queens got celery, potato skins, and bread so far today. I will probably make them oatmeal later on. I am out of raisins. I hope they don't get mad!

I know it is cold out, but how long does it normally take for an egg to freeze? I was not expecting frozen eggs so early.
There was nothing wrong with that cartoon.

Sounds like someone is intentionally sending some bad vibes your way. I limit my contact with people who try to bring me down (even relatives!).

I agree with you about no cats on the counter. I've taught all my cats to keep off the counters and tables. Staying off the bed pillows never happened with the last cat, though. He loved to walk and curl up on the place you lay your face every night. My poor hubby in particular was grossed out by this, but the kids loved it.

hmm, all of my Marans have lightly feathered shanks, they are all Marans crosses, but crossed with other Marans. although the one pullet... Cosette has the cleanest shanks, very tiny feathers... these are my Marans cockerels, about 6 months old. they're dancin'...
They're beautiful! I can hear the music too!

squee! My first

have 4 pipped too!
Yay! More pics please..

Here is what I caught the Dane and the heeler playing! When I first saw them, the Dane had the puppy's whole head in his mouth! All I saw was his snout sticking out one side, and his shoulders on the other!

If you can't watch the video here.... I also posted it on the facebook page that is linked in my signature.... YouTube is stupid sometimes!
That's a great video (and the others that showed up too). It's a good thing the Dane is so much bigger so the pup can learn who's the boss. Otherwise, that little guy looks like he would try to take over!!! Little tough guy!

If somebody is finding offense in that cartoon it's because they are looking waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to hard for something to be offended by.
Agree 100%

Check around and see what others are asking for comparable eggs. We only ask $3 because some eggs are small and I'm not strictly organic here. Regular buyers are from my hubby's work, and they have become addicted to the fresh eggs. It's enough money to pay for the feed, so I'm happy with that.

Welcome to the thread!
