Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Here is my smallest chick, they are just precious sweet little things

Congrats on 2 perfect days and the goose egg too! How's Roger doing after what must have been a very taxing day for her? Cheeka, if Peach's eggs don't smell, then I think you're right to leave her be. The 21 day incubation time is an average, and if the eggs are a bit cooler than optimal, there can be a delay. (You can learn a lot from hatch-a-holics!). It's been pretty cold for you, so when Peach gets off the nest to eat, the eggs might be cooling down more than normal. Keeping fingers crossed for you. When is your granddaughter visiting? It would be awesome if you could time a hatch so she could see it!

We had six eggs today, but can't eat them. Still not sure if the mob is improving.

Even though they seem mostly alright, I'm getting very impatient and worried. I even pm'd Dawg for advice. The coop is getting disgusting. Gonna need a fire hose to clean the walls.

The 2 little Serama chicks are doing well. They eat like piggies and are quite unafraid. They're so quiet too. The first morning, I jolted awake at 6 am expecting they had died because they didn't wake me up sooner, like my other noisy chicks did. A couple of real sweeties! Still haven't taken any pictures. Bad mommy!
Roger is doing fine. Her head is a little swollen and she seems a little "put out" but otherwise she is fine. The "Peacock Treat Scream" volume has been turned to the highest level. The nut house....aka..coop.. is again full blown insanity. So everything is back to normal.

JCH, such a beauty! love the patterned head... so neat to see how much they change in the first week!

as for Peach... it did take her several days to really start sitting seriously... and it was colder in that room when I had the chicks in there... I kept it at 55* so they could handle 40* when I put them out... and then when it dropped to 25*... it was an easier transition...

I did raise the heat back to 62*, so when she does get up to feed, it's pretty chilly, but the eggs stay pretty warm, she's not up long. so I will give her 5 more days. Saturday. if they haven't hatched by then... I will have to do a closer inspection.

Ohhhhh, I thought Peach had been put back outside, but you do have to start counting days from when they sit full time. You can hear them peeping through the shell a day or so before they hatch too.

Did you raise them from chicks? Just wondering what Roger was like as a baby. And at what time she went over to the dark side.

The Mob is going to hate me. Dawg suggested stopping all food/treats other than their layer pellets for a week to see if it has any effect. A week without pie?! I'm scared.

Some will say... "Egg production will slow down in the winter. It is due to the shortage of daylight. Artificial light will help production."

I say....Give them a PIE and turn that stupid light off".

2 eggs from the dome. it was really nice this afternoon, I got home around 3:30, took more videos, but am having difficulties getting them out of the phone again. I need to try my new phone for videos. I have an old Palm Pre that is no longer hooked up to service, but is a great video camera. that's what I have been using. I have 3 videos from today, and only one loaded onto the computer, and it says 0 new files to transfer, but there are 2 more. My new phone is complicated... although... I can upload to the internet straight away. time to figure the thing out.

W4W... that's the problem... when did she start really sitting seriously... without the eggs constantly popping out from one end to the other...? I never wrote anything down, except for a note here about when I stuck the eggs under her. I don't know... it seems to me like she's been sitting forever. but ya... she's been inside the whole time. she would have gone outside if she didn't turn broody on me... she wouldn't come out of her crate anymore, which is why I stuck the eggs under her.......................... she's kinda spoiled.
