Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Wow, W4W, lots going on... I hope your Dad has a speedy recovery, he sounds like my Dad too... you're absolutely right - it's a good thing he's in good shape, sometimes it's hard to see the extent of the damage with all the swelling, but within a few weeks, he should be feeling better

Reina, I had to giggle while reading about all the spots your flock found to lay their eggs... I'm so glad you figured it out! a couple of days ago, Mylee and I found 6 Eggs in the tall frondy stuff outside the dome. it was their first day out in a long time, so I knew they were fresh, but man they made quick work of it! I think they were out less than a half hour...

I am late to put the house on the market for this year. not much sells here when Winter hits. I will try anyway... historically, this property has always sold quickly, but with the market being what it is... it may take me a year to sell it (or more)... I haven't really looked into where I would move, but it would really be where I can transfer my job. I would consider several states... as long as I'm within a few hundred miles of my folks and Mylee... it's fine, as it is now, I'm a couple of thousand miles away... I'm pretty much a DIY'er, but a cross country move would require help. whether I use PODS alone and friends and family... or PODS and another moving company... I'm not sure. to move the flock is a big deal, but handyman used to be a cross country trucker, and he offered to drive the flock, as long as I get him back home of course...

I was up til stupid o'clock last night (quarter of three) and have been up since 7:30 this morning, I'm surprised I'm not delirious... I feel pretty good... will take care of the flock, and go through clothes til it's time to take a nap... Mylee is enjoying a cup of decaf hazelnut coffee this morning - she kept sipping from mine... so... she feels special, having her own coffee in a pretty cup with a Pug on it.. I shudder to think of her drinking high-test (caffeinated) she'd be pinging off the walls!

.......Mylee stubbed her toe. <shudder> split it open. she quietly came inside, sat up on the couch, and said "I need a band-aid". she was extremely calm. I took one look, resolved to keep it that way, but I was flipping on the inside. got it bandaged, it's going to be fine, but she had a rough time this afternoon... it throbbed when she would get wound up, and she's not one to sit still... she can't wear a shoe for a day at least, she freaks out if I mention a flip flop... so she's wearing one of my fuzzy socks - even her slipper was a bit snug. We watched one Disney movie after another, while I went through mountains of clothing - I have 3 huge bags full for donation.

no free range, it was cloudy and windy all day with only brief moments of sun... 7 Eggs.

Update on little BO who can't walk. I still have her in the nest box/hospital. She can stand now for a short period of time. Even acts like she might try to take a step soon but still either very sore or very weak. But standing is progress and if she continues like this she might be OK.

RK's feathers are zooming in now! she looks great, and her timing couldn't be more perfect... the chicks are filling out too, never ceases to amaze me how fast they grow.... Good to hear the little BO is hanging in there and showing signs of improvement too. not surprised one bit that she could handle what would be considered an overload for an average chicken like it was a handful of nothin' and keep eatin'... I have seen Wilma behave in that manner everyday for almost 17 months.

I haven't been on much lately, but 3 days ago my 16 wk old BO pullet came up lame. Just out of no where I noticed her limping. Her and her hatch mate still sleep on the coop floor, so I wonder if she didn't fall off the perch. Anywho. I have her seperated and let her out yesterday, and she's still gimpy but improving. Made me think of yours.
