Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Min Min has repurposed my old egg basket...

forgot to share this - my neighbor got a deer and gave me some really good scraps. they devoured every speck.

I thought I would have to chop it up, but nope... I thought I would have to pick up what they didn't eat so as to not attract predators... but again... nope.
pigs.

Clarabelle and the babies enjoying the treat that cheeka sent them!

Does the video show up green for everyone else? Trying to fix it!

Today was a much better day! The girls stayed out all day and everyone enjoyed the millet that cheeka sent them! I am going tomorrow to get the 3 new EE girls! Still have to figure out how to quarantine them, since everyone else free-ranges during the day.... Not sure how to work that out! Any suggestions?

How they get some of that meat off of the bones I will never know. I cannot do that good with a knife. Every last morsel

it's hard to quarantine them when you can't keep them far enough apart... and if the free ranging birds can get up to the quarantine pen... you might as well not bother. most of the concern is airborne... so proximity is a key factor. I can't do much either on that front... so I try to keep the poop separated at the very least. I've been lucky with bringing birds in from outside flocks... although, someone picked up that respiratory bug, seems cleared up, but I will still dose another 3 gallons. my newest connection lives local to me, and her birds are in very good condition. we have the same environmental factors for the most part. not advocating keeping them in the house, because I did that last winter and it was disasterously messy... although I had 14 chicks, and Peach. have you got garage space... and a roomy kennel or such?

I can see the video is there, but it won't play for me... yet.

Nope we don't have a garage, and the other birds have access to our whole property! I haven't had any problems so far, although I normally use the little coop that Clarabelle and the babies are in to put new birds in for a few weeks when I first get them. I guess we will figure out something tomorrow!

Thanks for reminding Roger that it is deer season. She has started the "my heart is failing dying chicken act" that only venison can cure. Scratch only treats the symptoms. Here we go again..........

well OK, you know what that means... dust off the gear and get a'ready... do you bow hunt? I've made a couple of deals for scraps and carcass parts from folks along my route... I'll end up with way too much.... but I'll give the carcasses first, save the scraps, freeze them...
