Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I had a hen leave the nest early but had a hatchery and put egg in there turned the every four hours for the rest of time then stopped turning got 5 babies but had a good mom hen that had babies 3 days before, so we took new babies out one night and put them under her, she was a good mommy, one day she was walking back and forth in front of cage door so I opened it and she started talking went outside, at about four I went out and she was at door so I let her in, for 3 days she did this then one day she did a lot of talking at the door before she would leave, that day at 4 I went out and she was on roost , it was as if she was tilling her babies they were on their own that she was done her job, there is a picture of the cage we put up when new ones are comeing, we never leave them in a nest box if we want to hatch them.

It actually looks like it may be an old camper trailer! Great idea!!!!

So far hen took the last one that hatched. I hope these all frizzle out. One dark one is a Maran. Fingers crossed its a pullet. The white ones are all frizzled EEs. But all have yellow legs, but all feathered legs. So who knows!

yes it is a 28ft camper we cleaned everything out left in elec. he rebuilt the whole thing, my babies love the room they have, at first we had a house in it for our rabbit and it ran around in the part we had for peeps but he chewed a hole in the wood so we took him out before peeps found the hole.

gilcamp, that's awesome and having the electricity is so convenient. I looked on your profile and saw the pics you posted on the other thread. Very inspiring! I need to head up to the old family homestead and see what's lying around that can be coopified.

Baby RIRs decided the sod clump was ok finally...and then started showing the cochin, SS, and Orloff babies just what to fo with it!

Lil bitties are lots more friendly and curious than bigger bitties. Maybe they will rub off.

Sbm, I live in Pennsylvania.
W4w, dh is happy on the road alone. He talks to other drivers, sees his family (scattered around USA) and even finds guys he drove with or trained before I was born! I was with him once when that happened. So funny.
I think that is the worst part of this. He doesn't care that we are apart, but I am getting tired of the loneliness. Eh' the insanity of our relationship is another story. Ha ha!
I have thought of having my cross beak on the road with us, but five hundred dollars per pet is steep. Ha ha! I could have fresh eggs every morning though!

My mom and dad have both drove at some point. Have you spoke with DH about short haul or just within the state? My dad now owns his own truck, but he's been on a 6 day schedule for several years. He's gone during the week, but comes in Saturday evenings. I don't know what the driving employment looks like up there. I am always up for emailing or texting if you want someone to talk too. I work 7 days a week, so even if you were close, I would never be able to see you :

5 Eggs today, and a nice hour+ of free range. wish it could have been a bit longer, but we ran out of high daylight. I have a long day tomorrow too.

the whole flock is mingling around the lilac. main flock, including Peach's older girls, is of course 80% of the main lineup, some are inside and around the back... Peach and her flock are on the right end. no squabbling. sheer perfection.
