Hattie is such a good girl. I am almost sorry I called her Psychochicken. I wonder if she will revert to her pre-egg laying habits of attacking me when my back is turned.

Hard to say! You may have to shock her. Grab her up and hold her, or pin her down if she does.![]()

I had to show Phyllis who was the boss. She got too pushy eating out of my hand so a couple times of her pecking when I had no food caused me to grab her and pin her... Only took a couple of times and now she is very respectful of me when I come with snacks.Hard to say! You may have to shock her. Grab her up and hold her, or pin her down if she does.
It won't harm her, and pinning is a dominant move in most birds.
No eggs in the goose pen, so we had 4 chicken and 3 quail eggs so far today.
We laid 7!
Yay!!!!!I got another egg today! That makes a total of 2 for the day. It was an egg fart, but an edible egg fart. Still warm... I suspect that it is from my EE, Si. She had been hanging out in the coop all day while her flock mates were under the toy hauler scratching around. Her first egg in three weeks!!

NO! I cannot believe the comparison with these pekin and my geese. I will be selling the pekin and soon. The dumplings were really good! I made the old fashioned kind, out of flour shortening and milk... LOL!
Fresh Eggs Daily is an awesome book and blog! I too am making plans for adding chicken "stuff" in the garden. I love it! I actually did a review on my blog of the book if you want to check it out...
Jchny: Do geese make as big of a mess as ducks?

ohhh my.. better than duck eggs, and huge. 5 - 6 oz eggs!
I cant eat duck eggs for some reason fried, they have to be cooked in something.
Goose eggs make an amazing omlette![]()

The geese I have 14 total, eat less than 7 pekin.
My geese also serve a purpose, call an alarm. Pekin just shovel in the food, they do lay regular but gees.. they eat a LOT.
Its just not worth the feed cost. They are funny, social.. bust costly for a homestead.
I prefer muscovy, way more worth meat and egg purpose. Much quieter, quackless and more intelligent!
