Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

I'm glad your husband recovered. That must have been a scary time. 60 chickens seems like more work than fun. We are limited by a smaller property, so maybe that's a good thing. So easy to just get a few more though, they start out so small.
Enjoy your granddaughter. Wonderful that you have family near.
my granddaughter is from new jersey and daughter went to pick her up, she would not come without her cat, so I said ok, daughter went there to pick her up a 2 hr drive after working, cat ran away under a bed and they had trouble getting him took 1/2 hr daughter was not happy, got 3 miles from house and had to turn around for some kind of tablet, I think its one you can read books on, a bad day for daughter, we got one chicken that fell from a chicken truck about 5 yrs ago, I told dh we had to get her a friend so we got 10 then the man said they had to sell the rest so we got them then about a year later we went to an auction and I saw a chicken I liked, well I found out the hard way never do that, our whole flock had to be put down but the mommy and her peeps, so we had to build another house and we got the camper and changed to coop moved to new yard too, I was sick we had some nice ones too.
only have one daughter in Delaware rest are in jersey. I am also glad dh is better, we say we are on borrowed time as he is in his 80's but don't look it.

:fl is what I meant, but the other works too!
Just mentioning New Jersey makes me homesick.
I do hope that your husband continues to improve. No one knows when the end will come. But it is scary when you're told that it's near.

gilcamp, glad to hear dh is on the mend!

MC, sounds fishy to me, but I'm glad that they're returning. reminds me of a Walton's episode when Yancy was stealing chickens and bringing them to hungry folks for the eggs... when he was caught, the folks brought them back, one by one... it was so cute...

on my home front, we have made huge progress. lots of crap gone, and the dumpster is coming within a few days, then it will go fast! Inspections are Friday and Saturday, first septic, then house. pray that all goes well, it should... but... sheesh, the stress! but I am feeling much better because of all the stuff that went today, I have 2 people that want the majority of my flock AND my Dad found a beautiful, not overly large house that we close on in 2 weeks! I can be in that house 2 weeks from now if I'm ready, which is a full 2 weeks before I am due at the Mayo Clinic... my brother can stay at the house and care for the dogs while I'm gone and Oma and Wrangler will move in ASAP - their lease isn't up til the end of September, so we can take that month to basically move them...

just having an address to move to is a huge weight off my mind.

Well granddaughter is here and we took her to auction wed night, mistake she came home with 8 new peeps so now I have 18 peeps, had the new ones on dinning room table, this morning one did not look good dh said with the air on it was to cold for them, I did have a light on them, now they are out in the screen room.

hope the one in corner pull through,

fingers crossed over here too gilcamp! hope peep pulls through!

so I had that breath test today. talk about boring! 4 hours of sitting, blowing into a special bag every 20 minutes. normal would be no hydrogen in any breath, even with the non digestible sugar they make the patient drink...
lactose intolerance is a blast of hydrogen on the first breath after drinking the stuff, then again towards the end, when that sugar stuff hits the large intestine, none in between. apparently, I blew significant numbers on every breath, including the base level, without the sugar. nurse wouldn't tell me much, other than the test is not negative, that something is definitely going on, and the results will be read later today. I hopefully will hear by Monday. also hopefully, it can be cleared with antibiotics, because I definitely have bacterial overload, but what else could be going on, I have know clue.
and my weight dropped again. fully dressed (no shoes tho') I weigh 100.2 lbs. so... probably 98 nekkid...

the septic was supposed to be dug up and tested today (and pumped) but apparently, the owner of the company had to take her son to the ER, so now I have no idea when... could be anytime over the next 4 days. the Home Inspection is tomorrow at 10 AM. also tomorrow, I have to pick up a U-Haul truck for my DD around 9 AM so she can get her stuff and move it to Massachusetts, get my oil changed on my Jeep at 1 PM, keep packing... I'm pooped just listing it.
