Should I buy eggs or wait it out?

Its been seven days already. We have a generator...gasoline, and a whole house generator that we are waiting on the final connections from the propne tank.....so although some electricity, not enough to run the stove and/hot water, I am just tired of new and creative meals on top of the wood stove....I shouldn t complain, some don't have wood stoves or generators. Pizza tonight.

I grew up on Long Island, and power outages were a regular occurance... so regular that we had a "daisy chain" of families that would crash at each others houses as the power outage would rotate around the town... up here, it's not so often, but a couple of years ago we had 3 separate week long blackouts in under 3 months... so I got my generator. I don't wanna die bc I'm so isolated...
last year, the power and phone company had to replace over 16,000 poles. talk about a domino effect!

MC, your Pup is so cute! mine has a toy skunk too, but I have to get her the unstuffed toys. she may be a little thing, but the first thing she does is rip out an eye or the nose and take all the stuffing out, eat half and strew the rest around the house... if Roger lived here, I bet she'd eat the other half of the stuffing, no evidence... until the Pup pooped white fluff and Roger's egg, when cracked would be full of white fluff...

got 5 beautiful eggs today, only one brown missing. have a new larger basket to hold the eggs, took a picture of course... will get it up later, trying to get some housework done before company comes for our regular Sunday night hang out... one of the cats got in the basement last night, and I didn't think about filthy feet when I found her meowing at the door this morning, I just let her back in and left for work. there are hundreds of inky black soot kitty foot prints everywhere. the table and counters are bleached, and fine, the rug is vacuumed but it is stained. I don't know if cleaning the carpet will work or just spread it out. I left a pile of soot behind the furnace from the pipe to the chimney. I cleaned up all the rest of the piles, but missed that one. at least she only stepped in it... she could have rolled in it... and it's a plus that I close most of the doors to other rooms as a habit so everything doesn't get covered in cat hair... or I bet I'd have soot prints all over my pillow!

That is a stuffing-less skunk. It got so stinky, I had to buy another. I was on the way to the kennel, and the store only had minis. Small as that mutt is, he prefers the big one. He made it through the weekend with the mini, but I still get ticked that it cost twice what I paid for the big one, and he doesn't even like it.

Yes a perfect day would yield seven eggs. But I'm getting four a day now, not bad. The late ones are real soon behind. They are all just a few days in age apart. So it should be real soon that I get a dozen every two days. They're medium in size but darn good.
Hi Chicken Steve! Congrats on the eggs. They start out smallish, but will get larger in a few months. Unless you have bantams!

This is Sturgis, the prune eating dog. I hadn't thought about it, but he likes to eat skunks too! That is what he has in his mouth.

Well, Sturgis is too cute to have to sleep in the garage! And he's so cute I think he can eat pretty much whatever he wants. Belle loves to play with stuffies. They last about a day. If there's a squeaker, she eviscerates them to get it out and walks around squeaking it for days.

Going without power as a kid was kind of an adventure. Lanterns and candlelight and cooking on the wood stove, sleeping in the living room by the fire (and the dogs!), and eating everything out of the 'frige and freezer before it went bad. Such a chore to have to polish off all the ice cream!

Now of course an outage is just a royal pain in the derriere.

you can complain here, pizza sounds good! i bet leftover pizza heated on the wood stove for breakfast would be good too!

all my little dogs prefer the bigger toys, some are longer/larger than she is! I've quite a collection after having 3 Pugs over the years, the stuffingless ones are great, they last longer than the regular ones, wash better... but your right, the little ones are just as expensive if not more in some stores.

my new basket! Blu's camo green eggs are different everyday, speckled, strange uneven extra coating... but they are yummy! packaged up a dozen and a half to give to my neighbor as advance payment for snow plowing

it's an illusion... the lightest ones are "cream" color, and the browns are 2 distinct shades, and next to each other, with the blue and green, makes me see pink too... but they're not... weird huh?
