Should I do this?

I'm looking for someone to build the fence.

Why not do it yourself? You could be creative. One part could be chicken wire, then some old half rotten fencing, nice dog ear in between, some rocks, then restart the fence. Oh, and don’t forget to add the stylish paint cans with shotgun holes in them as an extra accessory. You could have some serious fun building that fence! Mine always have to be all straight and on 8ft centers. I couldn’t fathom the joy I would have building something like that!

But make sure it's only ugly like that on THEIR side of the fence

On YOUR side it can be all pretty and even. Heck, you can build the big ugly fence and then plant the bamboo on your side of it. That way you get to look at bamboo, and they get to look at an ugly fence with 40 feet of bamboo behind it

Here's my house seems alittle more fitting wouldn' you agree. I don't need no stinking mahttps://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/63768_pa200010.jpgnsion I'm practical.

Say don't you pick your pecans in your birthday suit? What would the neighbors think about their new view then.

I'm in the aweful side of my city. I want to be in the country so badly, but I know if I could ever afford it that eventually I'd be surrounded again by huge neighborhoods and traffic and ordinances!

My daughter bought a beautiful house on what used to be farm land. There's no a shopping center and houses all over the place. She lives on a court. There's a huge brick fence, just like all of the other areas there, at the end of the court. One the othetr side where my daughter is, there are coes, horses a mule and some donkeys. I love to sit out front and hear them. Can't see them from there, but I can hear them.

These were expensive houses when built. My daughter was one of the first people to buy before they broke ground and she is the only original owner on her court and maybe one of 20 all the way down her street. The houses are 5 years old. The value of those houses has dropped at least to 1/3 the original price.

New people move in and out all the time. Here's my problem. When you are house hunting, learn your area!!! Yes there are farms near you. Don't like the smell? Don't move there. Don't like to hear roosters crow or cows moo or horses whinny? Move someplace else! Oh what? The donkeys and mules bother you? You saw them driving in. Did you think the noises were only from books or toys? You thought they drove you crazy with a favorite toy, try listen whenever they decide to get noisy and you can't turn them off!

No, these people can't just use their brains to find that dream home. The price was too good for the size. Instead there was some jerk walking around getting signatures to have them move the animals a couple of weeks ago. Thing that got me was there was a LOT of signatures. He tried to argue with me that he had just mpved in and for what he paid, he shouldn't have to deal with a rooster crowing. I told him that I know what he paid if he just recently moved to the area and my daughter pays a minimum of 3 times what he does and the animals don't bother her or anyone with a brain a bit. Still they are working at getting to farm animals relocated. Really chaps my hide!

Ok I had my rant. As you were.

I've read the replies and got a chuckle. Some yahoo tried buying 5 acres adjoining my property for a HOG CONFINEMENT! I'd be smelling it just 30 ft from my bedroom window. Thankfully, my neighbor wouldn't sell.

Chickens love to nest in the roots, but so do snakes.

Neat! Maybe I'll plant some for them too!
Ya know, to be honest, I have NEVER seen a snake on my property.... I know that doesn't mean they aren't around somewhere but they just aren't that common in my neck of the woods.

But I'll keep my eyes open for them anyway.

Theres not supposed to be ANY snakes in Maine... but i'm sure thats not true..
Maybe just an old myth or something??
Hubbys parents live by Lake Sebago ..

I would do a really tall privacy fence AND also a line of bamboo or some tall corn..
