Should I help this chick out of the egg?

Great to hear she is doing ok :yesss: Does sound like she has hatched with albumen (egg white) on her from how you have described it. The usual cause of this a humidity problem. Here is a great article on incubation problems ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/egg-failure-to-hatch-diagnosing-incubation-problems
Once she is a little stronger you should be able to clean her up better with warm water so she can then fluff up. Just make sure she doesn't get chilled.

Wishing you the very best of luck with her I hope she continues to thrive :fl

How does this look????

Not bad, just try to keep as clean as you possibly can. Try not to let any poop get on it. It's prime target for bacteria to get. Last thing you need is it to get infected. It's not swollen though which is a good sign. Keep checking for any swelling in that area.

Here is an article on things to look out for regarding mushy chick (yolk sac infection) ~

I named her hope.... She passed away a few minutes ago in my hands..... She just wasn't ready to be here yet......

I'm so sorry she didn't make it :hugs

That is a beautiful name for her, I'm sure she knew she was very much loved by you. I'm afraid this all part hatching and even with the best will in the world they are sometimes just not meant to make it.

I'm sorry for your loss :hugs
